dtgreene: Any genre that includes electric guitar. (*especially* heavy metal, which is so pervasive that the topic titled "the metal thread" doesn't seem to say anything about actual metals like iron and steel.)
I would rather listen to aleatoric or other strange modern art music, or to Pokemon glitch music, than listen to electric guitar.
(Note that this includes synthetic sounds that mimic the electric guitar. One of the reasons I like NES chiptune music is that the NES sound chip can't mimic the electric guitar, unlike, say, the Sega Genesis soundchip.) That's intense! My deepest condolences!
If I understand you correctly, you are depriving yourself of the rock and all it's derivatives & fusions! Rock and roll, blues, R&B, soul, jazz, pop...

In terms of years, most of the music from 1950 to 2010 maybe?
The electric guitar was the main instrument for several decades... before it, what was it? violin... trumpet... piano?
What genres are left excluding electric guitar?, I mean: Which ones do you like then? (Assuming you are fine with the million rest string instruments electrified: bass, violin, piano, ukulele...)
