anothername: I use it for downloading the installers; thats it.

drmike: Just curious. Why not use the old GoG Downloader then?
Don't know. At one point I used galaxy and I liked how it handled the downloads better for some reason. Could not point fingers now and say "this and that is better" anymore.

No I never will use any client to play a game. Gog galaxy included.

Sometimes new patches add zero value for the majority of users yet also introduce new game-breaking bugs for all users who install it. And the bug-filled new patches do not disclose that they contain bugs in their notes, thus the user may well have no idea that a new patch is the cause for why his or her game stopped working properly.#Q&_^Q&Q#LINK:43#Q&_^Q&Q#

Sure wish Steam had that. I bought a game there that was not Early Access... it was officially released... and played it and was JUST LOVING IT. I mean playing it every. single. day. Then a "patch" came out. And to be fair... the patch did fi some bugs. But it also added new "features" and changed existing ones to the point that the game was just a complete different experience. I mean completely different. I went from loving it and playing it every day to playing it for five minutes... getting fed up and quitting. Completely. Different. experience. And I can't go back to that (despite, you know PAYING FOR IT). I wonder what people would do if you bought a red car from a car dealer and they came out later and did an update and made it blue (we decided it's safer as red cars get more tickets). Think people would put up with that??? But they changed the game I paid for and when I demanded either a refund or a way to "roll back" I was the one that was being unreasonable and caught grief from other gamers or fan boys or whatever. God damned gamers sometimes. Own worst enemies.

And unless I'm missing something, you are forced to get updates on Steam unless you play offline exclusively. And even then if you forget one day... click "Play" on that game while you're online... boom it's going to be updated. No. Way. to say No.

Steam basically forces you to stay current on games, though devs can add old builds on the beta branch if they want. But yea it's a pretty good feature to have. Though I'm not sure how far Galaxy's rollback goes... usually only like 5 versions back I think, I don't think it shows every version released (list would probally get to long).

They do have that.
If you need a client, you have too many games.

Wouldn't exactly call that the same thing... it's a lot more work and not a built in feature.

LOL. No, reddit has that. But anyway, it's not built into the Steam client... and even if I followed all of that stuff if I read it right it would just get screwed up again on the next update. Going through all of that every time isn't my idea of rolling back. But I do see your point. It's at least possible. If you're willing to go through those hoops. Thank you. When the game is finally done updating I might give that a try.

ADDED: For anyone wondering the game is "Motorsport Manager." And 1 update added a "feature" that lets you increase the performance of your car by stripping off parts.... something that is EXPLICITLY illegal in most real racing. And another feature complete changed the way pit stops worked which changed the way the staff stats worked etc. etc. etc. There were other pretty big changes and when I complained about this being more than a patch and instead more like a retool... lots of people agreed and many also quit playing and asked about refunds. If they were going to do all of that they should have marketed the game as an Early Access game still being developed... and I would have waited to buy it. See screenshot to see how much I was playing lol. Now I just go back in every now and then and see if I can try and like it again but it's just a different game now.

summitus: hoping to see all games with achievements but uninstalled it since.

drmike: I don't know how up to date this is but there's a list of gog games with achievements here:

https://www.gog.com/mix/games_with_galaxy_achievements
I'm not sure why people always post the GOGmix when it's bound to be outdated... there is a built in filter in the store.

https://www.gog.com/games?feature=achievements&sort=popularity&page=1
hell no, not using it. tried it during early beta phase, found out that its just a useless shit dump and a big pain in the ass. since then never used it again. galaxy seems to fuck up pc's from time to time, like deleting hard disk data.

gog's greedy spineless shareholders can shove galaxy up their asses!

I don't like unnecessary dependencies in software.

Even though I'm not interested in anything that Galaxy offers, I tested Galaxy's downloading capabilities in its early days, since GOG Downloader has been deprecated.

It was an absolute failure.

So, I got back to downloading through the browser, which has always been a universal approach, working perfectly on unsupported systems too.

It's there. Why not use it as a starting point?

nah, was just curious. What it downloads is in separate files, ready for either setup or burn to disc as needed.

I think it works well.

Don't use it. Never used it. Never will use it.

I don't see the point of achievements. I'm perfectly capable of patching something myself. I prefer single player to multiplayer games. I don't use the cloud. Ergo - no need for Galaxy.
I'd use Galaxy just with some games to enable multiplayer and achievements, but I don't have very much trust in the devs' skills, knowing what happened in the past (full game re-downloads, no differential cloud saves, hassle with mods, weak security, various bugs, even some user dirs deleted, etc..).

Ah, also it misses an important feature for me: managing standalones (like gogrepo does).

I use the windows 10 start menu and make a list with all the game shortcuts on it called games so it galaxy is dead to me unless i have to play something that requires it for maybe online play with a friend but so far that never happened.
