Had any of you been to hockey games at a later age and not when a kid?


I could not go due to family not having much money when I was a kid :(

First time I went I was 16 or 17. It was a great time even though the Rangers stank back then.

First time for me was 2 years ago. It was pretty nice though games aren't that spectacular on my country.

You're a Canadian and you're saying it took you THIS long to go to your first hockey game?

Still haven't been to a hockey game.
And if I happen to see it on TV, I get bored within minutes if not seconds.

This isn't the 1970s. There is still fighting but it is waaaaay down and when he said 3 fights in one game my jaw hit the floor. that is VERY VERY VERY untypical for today's game

I adore hockey but the fighting in it is abhorrent. It kills the pace of the game and takes two good players off the ice for five minutes, not to mention that 99 % of the time it accomplishes nothing.

Now a days the NHL is about speed and finesse. There are no more goons because teams can't afford to give up a roster spot for them with how quick and competitive the game has become.

If you look around I think you will see that there is now far more fighting in baseball, football, basketball and even NASCAR, and they are in cars for fucks sake!!! :P

Seriously. The only people that equate pro hockey with fighting and thuggery are people that don't watch it so either stop going on stereotype or stuff it.

I went once or twice, decades ago, when friends offered me a free ticket. It wasn't really my thing; I'm not a big fan of the cold, loud noise, or beer. Or of team sports in general, if we're going to be perfectly honest.
