Cons:
- Extremely cliched plot trying too hard to be "epic", ancient prophecy yada yada ancient evil rises yada yada. Starcraft 1 was just so much better because every villain had their own objectives which made sense, in a sense SC1 had no "villains" at all. Amon's objectives were basically "life is suffering so I'll kill everything so they no longer have to suffer" - excellent characterization Blizz.

- In general the writing was just bad, so many "All Protoss need to unite as one to fight against Amon" lines that just make you cringe. Listening to Artanis talk makes me want to stab my ears.

- Protoss characters are mindbogglingly boring, they talk in overly dramatic tones about honor and unity oh God please stop. Alarak was the only entertaining character in the whole campaign (great voice actor whoever it was). Why do Protoss (by that, I mean Templar) have no flawed or morally ambiguous characters in their society? I think if I was a Protoss I would of committed suicide at having to live with so many sanctimonious and self-righteous people.

Pros:
- Well designed missions (despite so many of them being timer-based) (special mention to the one where your base is on a space platform which you can move around)
- Cool soundtrack
- Good RTS gameplay
- I like the factional units, like how you get the Taldarim and Purifier units once they join you.
- Amon basically looks like Cthulhu.

John De Lancie of Q fame in Star Trek The Next Generation voiced Alarak.

And Artanis has been here since Starcraft Brood War.

Also the thing with Protoss Templars having no moral flaws is a lie because their own flaw is the prejudice and arrogance. I mean look at the whole thing with Tassadar vs the Conclave of the first game.

And Amon as a chracter was set up in Starcraft 1 (in the bonus mission with Zeratul)

From what I understand, the lore and everything in the first game was effectively retcon'd. It's more about the mechanics and interesting maps and scenarios and less about the story of the characters and the world at large. As such just because something happened in the first game doesn' t mean it carries over.
Yeah, the first game was great, but I couldn't force myself to continue after Wings of Freedom's cheeseball galore. Unfortunate to see how crappy it ended up.

What kind of game were you playing in Wings of Liberty? As if they were not any cheeseball moments in Starcraft 1?

Not completely retconned:

Just purchased it today. Looking forward to see how the campaign ends. I kinda love the cheese in Starcraft - I find it funny and it's the same with CnC. So I'm just hoping it isn't too hard or with too many difficulty spikes.

It's nowhere near too hard until you crank it up to Brutal (and I'm no SC dedicated gamer, just a casual player). The only time it got difficult was the very last level of both the campaign and the epilogue, however once you work out how to do it, they're just as easy.
