On topic: I always want 'deep' desks. I might not have a CRT anymore; I still like my desk to be at least 70-80 cm (depth). That, and a height-adjustable screen. A 27" needs to be set low enough so my eyes align with the top of the screen.

I have been trying to figure out Linux so the cases are on the floor and opened so I can easily switch HDDs. To save floor space I could disconnect top fan of the bigger case and stack them.
In the winter I don't have to worry too much about cooling.
During the summers... I haven't really been able to play things. Have been planning to redo cooling some day. The computers are over ten years old now.

I took apart a laptop, could not really solve cooling yet and didn't bother to add all the things back so right now it needs a keyboard attached. If I want to listen to something I need to add speakers or headphones. I hope I can find all the pieces eventually.
That one is also over ten years old and was really overheating.
I bought some other laptops few years ago. They aren't very powerful but they are smaller and I can move them around much easier than the old one.

Any computer may get moved where there is convenient surface. I am restless and keep rearranging things.

Adding a picture too. Just simple. Little need to access the back ports when there are the front ones there, and also have the camera cable plugged into a back one and pulled to the front, can see it there on the floor. Two mice because the Kone's been double clicking for the past couple of months and recently scrolling has become erratic too, so have a cheap basic one for when I need to make sure I'm not accidentally doing what I don't mean to, till I'll see what I'll do about that one.
Oh, and the mess of cables under the desk is also caused by a very long TV cable wrapped around there before the last little bit goes into the TV tuner in the computer, the UPS being behind the bottom drawer, so the power cable going to it and then those from it going back to computer, monitor and speakers, plus an unused power cable plugged in there, and a no longer used network cable also dangling around.

I have a pretty standard L desk setup with the tower underneath and against the wall on the side without a fan. I like having an L desk because my whole arm can rest when using the mouse.

I am kinda interested in one day having a wall mounted PC, that looks really cool to me. Doubt I ever get the motivation to actually do it though.

My computer is sitting on stack of hockey pucks at the corners (3 at each corner) to keep it off the floor and reduce dust in the intakes.

That's a *lot* of front USB ports.

My desktop has only 3, and it seems they got disconnected as a casualty of moving the computer in order to clean it.

i almost spilled my tea a couple of times out of surprise while watching all those clean setups others use for their, pc needs!!

my setups finds its self on the desk in the spare room..... i will include a picture, the picture included lead to a 5 minute cleaning room wave and to the exceptional step with the level to range out the 27"inch monitor, the result is, that picture will not be shared in public, the other picture is a mood shot of the inner workings,usb ports are only used to connect a 5.1 simulating 7.1 speakers head set which currently finds its self inside a black bag on top of the desktop visible on the uncleaned picture

Next to my desk on the floor so it is quite accessible to cleaning and usbcable removal. A memory error usually signals that dustcleaning is needed.
No bending below the desk required.

The case came with four but they were only USB 2.0, so I added a USB 3.0 front panel into one of the drive bays. I definitely don't need that many, but I do need at least a couple 3.0 ports on the front.

My current HTPC setup (computer on top of glass shelf).

I like this setup as I can just relax on the couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Though the 55" TV does look small with this camera angle, it's a comfortable size when in use from 9 ft back.

That gets me thinking: Could I add a USB-C port with power delivery capabilities (or at least enough power to comfortably power a Raspberry Pi 4) this way?

(The computer is an older one, so while it has USB 3.0 (or USB 3.1 Gen 1 is what it seems to be called these days), it came before USB-C.)

I notice the slime that you have. (I have one around somewhere as well.)

Too bad it's not a metal slime, but then again they do tend to run away...

Those slimes are great :) Friend gave it to me when he returned from Japan. Had to keep it high up, otherwise an inquisitive ferret would steal it for her own collection!

....Hmmmm if this WAS a metal slime, it would have likely been safe regardless....
