There is no need for a sequel. This is the perfect game. Once you play it you will never want to play another game again.

What do you mean?. He hasn't said anything about drm free or gog post KS (as far as i know).

But joking aside, I think that everything that you pay for game is worth it. Game is THE masterpiece.

Hehe, no worries, I definitely jumped in. Was not going to miss out on that.

I just hope that we get retroactive keys like a lot of the other Kickstarters that are on here.

Here is the latest news from Cleve himself now that the crowd funding campaign has ended:

Thus ends the greatest crowd funding campaign in human history that did not actually meet any of it’s funding goals. I have been filled with renewed vigor by this failure to raise any significant sums of money and am more determined than ever to get Grimoire out as soon as I possibly can.

My original plan to flee with the money to a 3rd world country with weak extradition laws has fallen through after the local dictator has nationalized all foreign accounts. He was particularly outraged to discover my secret Grimoire deposit box only contained a free drink voucher for Chuck E. Cheese and some broken Pez dispensers.

In coming weeks we have three goals :

1. Finish game for release
2. Implement all consolidated pledges from both this and prior campaigns.
3. Start writing manual and hint guide with help of automated tools.
4. Put Grimoire up on Project Greenlight to see if we can get it distributed on Steam.
5. Seek other digital distribution channels for final product. We may consider GOG after the product has been on Steam for a while.

Thanks for all your support and rest assured the overthrow of the forces of decline and fail is close at hand. I am sure many of you know this is shaping up to be a great year for RPGs, possibly the best year they have had since 1992. It is fitting Grimoire will be released in the same year as sequels to classics like Wastelands, Planescape Torment, Might & Magic and many others.

Crowd funding has changed everything in the past 12 months and it has made two things obvious :

1. People like me whining constantly about decline were correct the past 17 years. It was an era of decline.
2. The way things are shaping up, constant decline may become a thing of the past with the creative power shifting into the hands of creators. Incline may once again become a dominant force in the universe. That means you will be able to regularly play computer games that are not a blow to the basic dignity of mankind.

I look forward to the coming years and I expect my fledgling company Golden Era Enterprise to become a real force in the future for quality creative output. I hope you are all going to get at least half of the enjoyment I have been promising from Grimoire when it is released and from the games I still have inside me trying to get out.

I can't imagine that Cleve would actively turn down being on GOG, but I wonder if GOG themselves want Grimoire here.

I dunno, people digging up all that crazy stuff he wrote on RPGCodex, like that he worked on a secret project to make Wizardry 8 in the 90's in Australia outsourced by Sir-Tech, but that the project lead wasted the money on.... ehem.. questionable personal pursuits? I wasn't saying they don't want it here

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think the game, if the release goes well, will find its way here on GOG. This is the ideal place to sell a title like this. Cleve strikes me as a highly intelligent guy so I wonder what he's thinking when he wants to go Steam first and GOG maybe later, except possibly that Steam gives him a perceived benefit of control, namely built-in DRM. Maybe he is paranoid about people pirating the game before he's had an opportunity to make some money on it? That's all just a guess since only Cleve knows what Cleve is thinking but it does seem plausible enough to me.

There was a time not so long ago when he stated only people who pledge on Indiegogo would get the game DRM-free. Maybe this is somewhat in keeping with that but he's leaving his options open.

Anyway, it is the perfect indie release for GOG in my opinion and I hope it does come here. I think it would do very well and make a fine addition to the catalog. Again, this assumes a good solid release without a lot of issues and I believe in those, no matter who is making the game, when they release and are being put to the test by thousands of gamers.

I should add that despite the above statement, this is the very first time I have spent the money up front for a game not released yet. This title has a lot of potential to be something really special and somehow it just felt right to support it and also just worth it. Playing the demo for a while made me feel good about my choice. It's looking sweet.
