After watching Silent hills annoucements, I came here as fast as possible to ask the question that I've been waiting for the last two years (?. Any Silent Hill in the oven? Please! Silent Hill 2 ? Silent Hill 3?
Either way, Silent Hill is back! Really happy
Since when has Konami ever fit the idea of "DRM Free", Rialmwe?
I think they're more likely to release the new Silent Hills here than anything old. Why? Mostly because the lacklustre current console generation isn't going to make them enough sales by itself. They need to look more closely at PC, disinclined as they are to do that. They're aware of GOG now and hopefully their current offerings have exceeded expectations.

Hey maybe you did not know but you can get in GOG MG, MGS1, (we could before MGS2), Silent Hill 4. and other games.
I leave you a link. https://www.gog.com/en/games?publishers=konami-digital-entertainment They are so good and alos DRM Free
Thought Silent Hills was revived for a second lol.

One can hope but when has Konami released a game here? (Edit; apparently they do and I just cant see them being from Japan). Although Navagon mentions how console is not sufficient and they need to look to PC, steam by itself covers close to 70% of the market apparently so just releasing on steam would be fine for them, maybe Epic if they also get discounts. I dont see them coming to GOG.

I mean, why not? We have all the other Bloober Team games here.
Didn't we get all the Konami releases a few months or weeks before Cyberpunk2077 released (or maybe some after too)? Same with Horizon Zero Dawn? We haven't had anything from Konami or Sony since then afaik.
News? well:

- there is a remake of Silent Hill 2
- the new game Silent Hill: Townfall (which we don't know much about)
- the new game Silent Hill: Acsention (which we do not know much about)
- and the new game Silent HIll: f (which is set in 1960's, and we do not know much about).

They also announced a new Silent Hill move, Return to Silent Hill. Chrsitopher Gans is directing this one as well, whisch is good, I liked his first Silent Hill movie. But again, they have not even done the casting fro it yet, so wo do not know much about it

I believe if GOG were to release Silent Hill 2 and 3, they would've done it back when they got Silent Hill 4: The Room and the Metal Gear titles in the store in 2020.

The reason that didn't happen is most likely because, as stupid as it sounds, Konami lost the source code for 2 and 3:

And since those HD remaster never came to PC, the originals are, well, lost so unless they somehow recover them, I guess we should have no expectations about them getting released, unfortunately.

Personally looking forward to this one the most. I love both of No Code's games so can't wait for more!

One can wish! Two years ago, GOG and Konami made my year. Playing Metal Gear Solid on PC was so NICE. And obviously The Room is fantastic.

I also have so much faith with Annapurna's Silent Hill. It will be the most solid release. As a publisher they always deliver something interesting and uncommon.

I'm glad that Konami is giving all and showing that they are going to try to get the game back on track.

I'm glad those "remasters" didn't come to pc, they are a disgrace. Source code being lost is a great shame...such a cult ip as SH didn't deserve this neglect. However that still doesn't prevent Konami to re-release the original PC versions again (talking about SH2 and 3 obviously). Perhaps with some goodwill and community patches/wrappers included, which would fix many things along with improving compatibility with modern OS.

So... we know there's a lot we don't know much about? Well, it's a start.
Given that Konami seems open to bringing their older catalog over so far, I would have to agree that the Silent Hill absence is probably due to the issues with the source code.

Probably not because of the source code, since SH2 and 3 had their classic PC version already out (with win32 executables), so you don't have to recompile anything for a simple re-release. SH1 as a PS1 game is completely different story though and you need the sourcecode to port it to another platform, or otherwise having an emulation layer for it, or reversengineer it to then compile a native pc build.

Heck I doubt that the re-release of SH4 here involved the sourcecode to begin with.
