people posting about their bad experience with support, but not actually give them the support they are requesting? Seriously guys, you've given zero fucks about the forum for years, but now that there's a lot of bad PR from your shitty handling of literally everything, you're going to start cracking down on threads requesting help because your support system is a unilateral failure?

I know this post will get moderated, but I don't care. You guys genuinely have sucked the life out of this forum with your over moderation of ticky tack bullshit while refusing to actually fix so many of the things people complain about.

Or the actions of a company that really doesn't give a shit about their antiquated forums and the miniscule percentage of users like us that actually use them and would rather pay attention to people using social media like twitter, facebook, etc.

This. Mods shilling for GOG in the forums and outright trolling users who criticise GOG, long time users getting warned and even banned for laughable stuff, trolls openly breaking the rules getting protection from mods because they speak well of GOG or CDP or Cyberpunk, threads being locked for the same thing GOG itself was doing with their official threads (Cyberpunk spam) - that's the pathetic state of the forum today.

Yeah, imo they seem to be handling it poorly.
(it seems they mainly just point to the forum sticky on slower support times and lock the threads)

I also think it is somewhat "odd" for them to say they are swamped with support tickets(probably mainly refund requests) to the point they need to hire on temp help to handle them all, but in the meantime they are somehow able to find time to mod various threads across the forums.

That said: this sort of thing(people making threads en masse for refunds) could possibly be avoided(in whole or in part) by GOG staff making a sticky or news thread on the subject of refunds, and/or other changes...like maybe making it so that new tickets maybe send people PM updates or some such to let them know how it's progressing.

Tbh I think that might be GOG HQ's plan....make the forums so restrictive(what can be posted and how) so that most leave it over time.

Either that, or make it "sanitized" like some social media....with milquetoast topics and replies only.

while i have posted a lot here, forums are not the thing you should feel as the main attraction to this site, because it's first and foremost a store

and if you want to talk you can like talk to your friends

ok, more seriously, posting in forums can be nice but forums in general kinda died around 2008/2010, if i'm being generous, and reddit is a cesspool... i dunno. i might be alone in this but i don't really care that the forum is bad or anything, it's not the main reason i have a gog account, and it's kind weird to realize that so many people fell for the "friendly" exterior gog gives. i mean, if we're going to follow marketing bullshit, we should remember that it once cigarettes used to be marketed as good for your health

the worst thing you can do in a situaiton where one party is taking your money is thinking they "care" about you, they only provide a service and your connection to it all should end there, for your own mental health

Well, my problem is less with the forums and more with GOG in general and their handling of support, handling of their broken store, handling of releasing patches on non-Galaxy installers (even though they have the files to do so) and other various and sundry problems (like games disappearing from shelves, etc). But yes, much of what you say has merit.
GOG basically do nothing except selling games.
Most services I get here are provided solely by unpaid volunteers.
It is odd that the times I've contacted GOG support, they have replied pretty fast (sometimes the same day or the next day, sometimes a few days later). A couple of my tickets have been about refunds, but also generic questions about technical problems with the games.

The replies are not always what I've hoped for, e,g, they dismissed my question about Two Worlds Epic Edition not working in Linux Mint due to dependency error because the game supports Ubuntu, not specifically Mint (Mint is based on Ubuntu), but fair enough I guess... I was still able to get the Windows version run on WINE, albeit rather slowly; GOG's "Linux version" is basically the Windows version running on WINE anyway.

But still, they replied to my tickets, and pretty soon too.

So I don't know which is normal for most people, GOG support not answering them within days (at least within a week), or GOG remaining silent for weeks. I know GOG is under extra pressure right now due to CP2077, but I have seen these complaints about GOG support also before the CP2077 launch.

Well I can't really complain about GOG support as I have always found them prompt and generally quite helpful, and while they haven't solved everything I wanted, we never parted on bad terms.

I am here every day essentially, usually for a good slice of every day, regularly checking forum threads, and this over moderation mentioned is not something I am aware of, so I am tempted to call bullshit.

As I have said elsewhere, I suspect any issues to do with Support are based on the nature of the issue and the staff available or qualified to deal with it. And it is my suspicion that low staffing due to work on Cyberpunk etc has been impacting GOG for some time, and COVID of course. They could probably get help, but it seems that most don't want to move to Poland ... especially right now.

Clearly there is a backlog that Support are dealing with, but even so I have still gotten prompt response from them, with the library issues I had, swiftly dealt with. I wasn't alone in having those issues though.

P.S. I have also had good conversations with several MODs here, so have no reason to complain about them either, and it was always to do with some conflict I was involved in. They seemed pretty fair and just ... to a point, and it seems likely they are all unpaid volunteers.

Cyberpunk impact for sure, Covid? Nah, GOG isn't a brick and mortar-origin company. The only problem that could come from working remotely during covid times is people taking the micky and doing less work, as for the moving thing. They employ a fair amount of people as a group (CDP) it;s not an issue.

The sheer amount of stuff happening with Cyberpunk, Winter Sale, Devotion plus already existing tickets is probably the reason for delays in support replies.

As for their comms with users in forums etc, I just put it down to a lack of knowledge in how to do it, a fear of any form of conflict or at worst a lack of care. But, there's always time to learn and a time to try, so maybe this will change in time!
