Yes, in terms of roleplaying New Vegas gives you a lot more options as to who you wish to be within the scenario. It felt very liberating not having to be some 19 year-old with such a locked-down back story.

Hm, New Vegas railroads you more than 3 due to the placement of high level enemies on the roads you're not supposed to take early on. Once you reach the Strip for the first time, however, the game opens up for real.

The game was quite buggy, but there are unoffical patches that resolve a lot of stuff Obsidian didn't patch themselves.

Funny fact, Obsidian games are one of the very few I traded in due to the never ending glitching haha. I kind of regret that now but I remember a lot of their games being very unplayable.

If you patch it, which you can, there are no bugs to speak of. It was no more buggy than FO3 on release and now it's bug-free for all intents and purposes.

Other than that, I agree completely! I enjoyed it so much more than FO3, it is a worthy sequel to FO1 and FO2 and mechanically it is of course similar to FO3, but there is more depth to the gameplay, there's a hardcore mode, there is crafting, there are fewer perks (every other level instead of every level) etc.

FO:NV is one of the best games I've ever played and does pretty much everything right. Love it to bits.

Fallout new vegas is a much better RPG than fallout 3 and it is much more reminiscent to Fallout 1 and 2, featuring alot of the classic music from the first 2, multiple endings, interesting characters, no essential NPCs (except for your followers if you play on "non-hardcore") and even heavy elements from the cancelled "Fallout 3 Van Buren".

And the endings are like the original ones where they have a slides show showing you all the results that the events you participated in the game.

It's by far a better game (plot, writing, characters, world, dlc, slightly improved gameplay). It also runs a lot better on modern systems.

Regardless, even with the final patch, it's still quite buggy. You may want to use this if you intend on trying it.

Well my experience on both, that is not true. Fallout 3 was buggy, New Vegas was crash crash crash. Walk through a door, Crash. Open up your inventory, crash. It was very bad for a good month.

Mostly just repeating what's already been said. Except by darth, he hates Obsidian and should not be trusted, especially with valuables or small animals. Or children.

The PC is the only good way to play it since that's where all the best patching was done. If you've got a relatively robust system, get the FNV4GB patch; it helps enormously with memory management. The Project Nevada series of patches/mods are very high quality. And the Willow companion mod is as quality a fan-made NPC as I've ever seen in a game.

One of the official DLCs gets maligned very often for the way it's laid out. Without spoiling anything other than a map marker, if you have the official DLCs (and you should) and are going to the Mojave drive-in theater, you're going to get the best results and lore if you have a intelligent character with high non-combat skills. Pretty much every complaint I've heard about that DLC is from people who just wanted to SHOOT MOAR and thus missed out on basically all the plot.

That's hardly the case. A lot of the more apparent bugs were fixed, yes, but plenty "under the hood" stuff is still broken (perks, conditions for some quest, dialogue triggers, etc.).

Just like you won't listen about how I've played the latest version and how bugs don't always cause crashes.
