SirPrimalform: I don't think it looks necessarily bad but it doesn't look like they've done much to it. Which is a good thing I suppose. I wish Monkey Island SE had been a bit closer to the way they've done this.
Well MISE would have looked bad no matter what.
As the original was a perfect masterpiece of pixelart, there's no way to make pixelart HD unless you upscale the pixels, which looks bad. DOTT's cartoony style on the other hand, allows simply redrawing the same thing in bigger resolutions. I suppose if they actually had redrawn all of MISE's graphics following the MI3 art style, it might have been acceptable, but not better than the original anyway.
The best use for MISE is to create the ultimate talkie version with the fan patch, which makes it worth buying anyway. With Grim Fandango Remastered, there was the mouse support (I think, haven't played...) which the original game lacked. As for DOTT Remastered, I don't know if there's any incentive for buying, if one already owns a version of the game. Updated resolutions and clearer audio are nice, but many players are probably OK with the original version. But I agree that DOTT Remastered looks like a genuine "remaster", where they simply upgrade the quality, and don't mess with the game itself (like Broken Sword... ugh...).
