What is the 1.0.5 hotfix? I just updated the whole thing a couple of days ago and it's already broken?

My GOG version is 1.05 since Tuesday, I think. Was there a hotfix with the same serial number?

the hotfix was posted a few hours after GOG uploaded 1.0.5. appearently there were a few things that needed to be fixed quickly. i actually stopped downloading 1.0.5 when I saw that, so I don't know "how broken" 1.0.5 actually is

edit: here is the announcement
http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/139001-Silent-patch-for-KSP-1-0-5-published

- Fixed IVA breaking on crew transfer.
- Fixed typo on Dynawing craft.
- IntakeAir resource is now fully hidden in Resources App.
- Fixed body lift (it now exists again).
- Fixed every instance of part name, so root parts can be detected in all contractual instances.
- Used Unity drag to avoid integration errors on splashdown.
- Clamped parachute radiation.
- Upgrade outdated instances of vessel situations in career saves.
- Included layer 19 objects in potential enclosing colliders for cargo bays. (fixes some occlusion errors)

I just checked and my GOG version is .1024 which means you're right and the hotfix is not on GOG yet (version number should be .1028 with hotfix according to that forum post).

drealmer7: Great! Yeah, definitely career mode for me when I get it!
avatar
tinyE: NO! XD Play around with Science Mode 1st! You jump into career mode and your head will explode. You need to learn how to crawl before you can learn how to walk. :P
I jumped straight into career mode and learned everything the hard way. :D It's fine hehehe.I think the only difference is money. You don't really have to worry about money at the start until you start building monster rockets which costs lots. But by then, you'll be doing missions that payoff much more than the rockets you build.

When you fail as much as I do money is always a problem! XD I am a genius when it comes to having shit blow up on the pad.
I was hoping KSP would show up in the Fall sale, but I never saw it...

For me, the big difference between Science and Career for beginners is that you don't have some of the tools (like the orbit planner) at the start of career. And those tools are very handy, AND used in the tutorials, so doing without and having to unlock them feels a little harsh.

It's a pretty recent release, and they're still adding (free) stuff to it, so I don't think you'll see many promos for it in the coming months. Especially since it appears they don't want to play the DLC game yet (lower your base price, but sell full-priced additional content to compensate)

I'd say try Minecraft instead.

I needed to make sure I knew how to use the early tools before I was handed the later tools so I appreciate the Science mode. :D

cw8: Somehow I missed the reply...

I managed to land on Duna with Jebediah and 2 other Kerbals and managed to take off and go back home to Kerbin. Prior to that, I launched a fuel tank in orbit around Duna. Had to dock and refuel to get back to Kerbin. I have not made a rocket that can land on Duna and fly back home as yet. Think it requires a monster or a very efficient design.

I'm on a break from KSP atm, will go back anytime soon.
Awesome! I've landed my first probe on Duna a few days ago. I'll need to work on a refueling solution (I might try your idea :>) before I'll send my kerbals though.

Maybe not the whole ship, but a lander docked to a "mothership"
That's the way I'll try to get people on Duna and back in my current campaign : An interplanetary ship with huge fuel tanks, built and refueled in Kerbin orbit, and a lightweight lander/ascent module docking to it, with just enough autonomy to make it to orbit from Duna. It works well for my munar missions (the lander can refuel and leave experiments and samples at the "mothership", so I can make several trips to the Mun's surface during one mission), but I think it will be more complicated on a body with an atmosphere.

Great idea!
But for Munar missions, I just launch a singular rocket to land Kerbals and take off from Mun and fly back home. Always costs 100k and above so it's probably not too cost efficient but I really dislike docking LOL. Duna and other planets though are a different matter already. Getting a good efficient orbit around other planets is already a pain in the ass, it requires a lot of adjusting.

Well, mine is version .1028 (downloaded it about 30 hours ago), so the hotfix is there now. However, the orbital map doesn't appear to work.
