AFAIK, this is not the first time saudi clerics creates ridiculous rulings, remember women driving prohibition? That ruling is ridiculed by its own people (search "no woman no drive" at youtube)

Not to mention that saudi authorities had its own dark spot on islamic world's history.....

Also women can't go out without a male chaperone and people can get and regularly are executed for sorcery. One guy from a different country who just came to visit was sentenced to death because he was the host of an astrology programme in his country and only because of international outcry was he let go!

Well at least in USA you got democratic and secular government. Saudi Wahhabists on the other hand, got almost infinite support (both financially and politically) from an absolute monarchy.

and if you look closely, actually these wahhabi clerics are minority within saudi society. Most saudis dont giving AF about those ridiculous fatwas.
