Just noticed this release whilst scanning moddb:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/99469

An attempt to put daggerfall into the Skyrim engine.
Yeah i tried that mod. Very bare bones. It pretty much follows the main quest, has the towns, but otherwise it feels quite empty. Can't say i'd recommend it.

Ok, good to know. It seemed like early days on it. I do have daggerfall unity with several other mods to try out at some point anyways.

Go for DU. It's a far better experience with mods IMO.

Yep, it certainly seems to be.

Yeah, it has certain similarities to Daggerfall, but it doesn't have much else other than what you've described.

Besides, the translation of Daggerfalls interior designs into Skyrims 3d environments is a bit too jarring.

I'd say Skyrim works best if you play mods that complement the base game and its lore, even if it includes other worlds.

Hopefully Beyond Skyrim arrives in the next 5 years or so. The huge Elder Scrolls modding efforts like Tamriel Rebuilt always at least take 5 years until you really see progress and that mod is almost two decades old. Until now I recommend Legacy of the Dragonborn as a good mod for Skyrim (Special Edition version of the mod is linked) that complements the base game by adding a meta-game beyond of what Skyrim is able to offer, keeping player interest always high.

Definitely. Like going from modern graphics to PS1... I mean having a bunch of new interesting monsters to fight in the first dungeon was interesting, but it still felt off.

I'd hope for more Total Conversions to play new experiences and less with having to play a portion of the original game again... and again... 'Oh i am being called again to see the Grey beards... Oh i have to go down this road and right these bandits again....'

Honestly Morrowind felt more packed and less familiar than Skyrim.

I'll look it over. Perhaps it will be worth doing. I have been mixing a number of different mods to mix things up, but after you get to a certain level pushing for what feels best and just getting certain bonuses because it covers everything...

edit: Looks like the non SE version would be this one? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52248

Title sounds more like making James Bond main character in an Elder Scrolls game.

The plot would center around stopping 007 from introducing Gonorrhea into the Orcish population.

Hmmm maybe we need more earth shattering quests. like baking bread and helping little girls pick flowers for a picnic? j/k

Hmmm i need a good suggestion batch of mods to revamp my game. I got a few different mod batches put together... Though preferably where skill levels are uncapped and i can start a NG+ style. Not like i haven't been super powerful in vanilla and had too much gold...

Though doing a recent game where merchant stock was 650 for items, and had unlimited gold (20k every time you refreshed their buy/sell inventory) i quickly got 200k gold plus 100+ in alchemy, potions worth 4k each... It removes any need to do anything in the speechcraft/merchantile perk tree.
Looks like a solid foundation someone could use to make a massive mod out of. Probably will be done around the same time Gog is allowed to sell Skyrim :P

Yes, always looking for mod lists, though I rarely age time to actually play them now. There are some big ones out there,
https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47591
For oblivion is particularly good.
The two big ones for Skyrim, hot order and jauntons, I tried juantons, but trees were messed up. Also, I found a fair few of the mods removed. This is a problem with Skyrim in that a lot of mods were removed for fear of being ripped off, and some went to modworkshop and then creation club. So Bethesda actively trying to kill off modding by drming and micro transactioning modding.
Me, I would forget Skyrim, it’s unlikely to come here and it will be crippled anyways.

Dray2k: Yes, this is it.
So... prepping my mods to use it and... it crashes the game...

and won't start...

And won't say why...

edit: Think i found it. It doesn't like certain mods, and it doesn't like i tried to compress the bsa?

Usually the mod author says it outright whether or not you can uncompress the bsa into loose files.

Never ever compress a BSA because it is already compressed from the loose files.

Should you have a bunch of loose fine you want to compress into a bsa and the mod author doesn't state anything, it is usually safe to compress the mod. However, there might be exceptions.

Also use Mod Organizer 2 for all your modding needs.

If the problem persists its best to ask the mod author or switch to Skyrim SE, which is far more stable (however, Bethesda likes to break mods since they update the Bethesda modding portal frequently to annoy the modding community in preperation for TES VI since it won't sell as well if people still enjoy playing Skyrim as much as they still do).
