I remember a good horror movie about Christmas : Krampus, based on the creature from the Austro-Bavarian folklore. Not for kids, of course.

Note that creature effects were made by Weta Workshop.

When I think of Bad Santa, I think of the one from Futurama:

Yeah, it's not a movie, but still funny nonetheless.

ciemnogrodzianin: In Poland it has become a tradition (and also a subject of jokes and memes) that main TV channels shows Home Alone every Christmas. No Christmas without Kevin in Poland :D Does it work the same in Russia perhaps?
As I don't have traditional TV for over a dozen years, I haven't watched the movie for years. But last year we wanted to show the classic to our kids and we made cinema evening before Christmas. And you know – it was awesome! :D I remembered watching it in childhood, but it's still so good! This year we should definitely make the same with HA2.
And after watching Home Alone 2 you can play a cute game with your kids. Santa left something in your stocking.

Genocide2099: I've been hearing about that movie. Will watch it tonight and see what's up. The title sounds interesting though.

Rep7icant: Simply put, "Tôkyô goddofâzâzu" (2003) is a masterpiece. If you guys liked it, check out "Pâfekuto burû" (1997). It's another gem from the same director, namely Satoshi Kon.
Satoshi Kon's movies are truly something else, especially Paprika. I'm convinced that for most of his life, he must have inhabited a parallel universe. Who else could make films as trippy as that?

The Ref! Denis Leary in his heydays :)
I watched that movie when it was released...it's definitely also worth a revisit. Thanks for that!

Dogmaus: I'm gonna put this weird thing on durig my christmas dinner with my friends XD
A fellow connoisseur!

You might also wanna check out Santa with Muscles (1996) (imdb link).

It's also on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWyh6_-qFrw
I guess no one cares enough to protect their copyright.
Wow. I just realised that I've barely watched a single Christmas movie.

I can't believe I forgot about The Nightmare Before Christmas
It's a masterpiece...don't remember much of what happened in the movie...I should re-watch it one day (maybe you should too!)

that happens a lot especially if you watched it young
I watched Klaus yesterday. Totally awesome!

I will definitely watch that again with the kids, later on :)
I just realized that nobody mentioned one of my favourite Christmas movies so far: Little Lord Fauntleroy. Of course the version from 1980 with Alec Guiness.

In Germany it's always on television on primetime a few days before Christmas and a second time in the afternoon on the fourth Sunday of Advent. I try to watch it every year and even I have seen it at least 20 times by now, it's still heart-warming and I like it a lot.

I haven't watched the ending yet, but I agree with the sentiment. I'm not a movie person, though.
