This is a game that I spent a lot of time on in my childhood. I really enjoy the game play, to me its way more fun then any roller coaster tycoon game and should be brought back. No company has decided to remake or even mod this game yet and I just want to make sure I put this out there. This game rules and would be great in Widescreen HD. Lets make it happen!

I also loved it, but it was admittedly a buggy mess.

Many people want it, but EA has the rights. I'd suggest letting them know you want a GOG release (and maybe suggest they could work with GOG to release on both GOG and Origin) - https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/bd-p/origin-general-discussion-en
I'm doubtful that rights issues and holdings are logically an issue here. After all, Theme Park is already for sale here.

But Sim Theme Park/Theme Park World, that was made in 1999, when graphical APIs were entirely in flux. After all, 3dFX still existed.

I'm thinking that for a game of it's age, it's going to be nigh impossible to neatly get running.

I think at this point GOG has the ability to get it running well enough to release it (unless it's really tougher than titles like the early 3D Star Wars titles), I think the bigger issue is EA not caring enough to work with GOG on this and other old missing old games.
I know this topic is a little old, but it is entirely possible to play the game without much effort (if you own it) on modern systems. There are fixes you can manually install to get it running even in Windows 10, and there's an awesome auto-installer for them called Golden Ticket as well. It's absolutely possible for a new release even just with these fixes.

I'd absolutely love to see an HD remaster of the game though, and adding more parks/themes or even user content (like Steam Workshop support or something) would be amazing!

No other coaster/park sim has even come close to replicating the charm of this game in my honest opinion.
