Alright. I'm in for another round. But perhaps I'll try my hand at a bit more lurking this time. The past games have consistently taught me that being too active gets one killed while the lurkers thrive.

trentonlf: That's Flub's secret, he says he's town and technically he is even when he's scum since they are really just anti-town. He just never says what kind of town he is ;-)

HypersomniacLive: Well, he was the first ever Town Arsonist...
Yes he was, and that's my story and I'm sticking to it :-P

Nah, let's just lynch all the lurkers instead. Time and time again it's proved a safe method of hitting at least one scum...
The embers of yogsloth's game aren't even cold, and we're already onto the next one? Damn our fickleness.

Also, sign me up.

HypersomniacLive: That "Players are expected to make at least one post every weekday" is pretty strict, especially if the "Sorry, been busy, will post something meaningful later/ tomorrow" posts won't cut it, but it should keep the game from stagnating; yogsloth should be thrilled.
I never said it has to be meaningful, there is an art to some people saying next to nothing in their power lurking...
"Sorry, been busy, will post something meaningful later/ tomorrow" is a post and does make me aware you are still around.

And I'm not necessarily going to be that strict on it. I'm probably not even going to notice someone just missing a day when they post a lot. But two days in a row (or serially sporadic) and the edit elves may take action and they are a very mischievous bunch!

So in other words, while players are "expected" to post every weekday, it's like work where you are expected to not be late but there is some wiggle-room. Think of number of posts as "flair", if you post the bare minimum and then miss a day, the elves might not be so happy...

mchack: A new one already? :D
I'm itching to say "I'm in" but I don't dare, since I do have almost no free time this month and I can't say I'd be able to post something valuable each day (or at all, for that matter I probably wouldn't survive day one anyway ;)
But alas next game I really want to join up but this time better not yet, maybe I'll be allowed to watch from the sideline again as observer?
Up to you. Like I said above, posting daily is more a "theory" about the amount of activity expected (5 posts a week minimum). And lets just say, the first actions of the fine "edit elves" are "fun"...at least for me...

Me.

Will close old game tonight. Hope there is still at least a little interest to finish it off. :(

Should invite mchack, maybe cecil, as new guys looking to try their first game

I'm still interested, for what it's worth :)
I want to see all your flavor, especially for the PM's.

Yes, but each time I propose to lynch all lurkers someone like JMich argues that 'lurking is no proof of scumminess'.

It's no proof, that's true. But it's a damn good strategy for scum. So there will be some scum hiding among the lurkers. I say we either lynch all lurkers or we all start lurking ... and then we can stop playing alltogether.

I am only a lurker in the mafia threads but I am waiting for your conclusion to the game, it was an interesting read. Just saying ;-)

Lurking can be scummy, but just because somkne is lurking does not make them scum ;-)

We're all still waiting for the flavour conclusion, but we've got to get our fix... ;)

See in that case we should take it one step further, and lynch anyone who is lurking and anyone who suggests that lynching lurkers isn't a good strategy.
Yeah, ok, we'll hit town too (but after last game you should all know my feelings on that ;) ) but I think in pretty much every game I've played if you lynched people based on lurkiness / quality and number of posts first you would hit at least one or two scum or neutral parties.

trentonlf: Lurking can be scummy, but just because somkne is lurking does not make them scum ;-)
Yes, but the likelyhood of hitting scum is higher when lynching lurkers than when lynching non-lurkers. It is damn difficult to be scum, keep a high profile of activity and still not slip up. So most scum will hold back (or slip up anyway sooner or later) and therefore the ratio of scum to non-scum among the lurkers will always be significantly higher than the ratio of scum to non-scum in the game over all.

Yes! I'm with you on that!

That is going to follow poor Trent around for months, if not years.

I am going to bug you until you finish it properly and also post the rest of the flavor like you promised (or at least send it to me in some fashion). You get a grace period of until Monday, since you said you'd get back late Sunday night; clock is ticking!

ohhh, the itch is too strong (I'm pretty sure it's too soon for me to join and I'll probably regret it later, but alas it's only a game and I probably won't survive more than a day or two anyway (what with being the new kid in town) so: I'm in (here's to hoping I won't be scum on my first play (I remember budejovice saying it gave him "a bit of" PTSD in his first game ;)

Oh boy, please do. The flavour in your game was just amazing. I really really want to know what dat evil wizard will do with the ring. :D

My allies nearly lurked their way to victory. Also meant we had no risk of stumbling over each other.

Lastly, I'm going to sit this one out in the obs thread. I need to take a little time off and also finish prep for my game, including rebalancing for smaller numbers of players.
