adaliabooks: Nothing wrong with the Foo Fighters :P

Krypsyn: Hey now, Foo Fighters ain't bad.
Yeah, I dunno. I picture them as a band that crawled out of laboratory somewhere... after killing all the scientists that were working to create the most bland inoffensive mass-marketable commercial milquetoast band in history.

Then went on a world-wide rampage of vapid tuneless mediocrity, demolishing skyscrapers and stepping on buses full of special-education students, killing millions and winning Grammies by the basketfull along the way.

Time for the game to start?

yogsloth: A few years ago I took my wife to an Elton John concert. Elton John, people. It was horrible. I nearly resorted to auto-cannibalism.
That is Dame Elton John to you, bub. Yeah, yeah... off color joke... but he was knighted... ;)

Oh, your one of those people.
Got it.

I don't like everything they've done, but 'The Colour and the Shape' is a fantastic album from start to finish.

And 'New way home' will probably always be one of my favorite songs. Even if Seattle is the rival city to my current city, and the Kingdome is long gone.

So I assume you can be talking only of one place, eh?

I just tried it.

I really really did give it a try.

I couldn't make it much more than halfway through. No melody. Weak nearly-monotone whispered vocal. Uninspired three-chord 4/4 riffs. Nothing to sink your teeth into. Just bland, bland, bland. Like a musical mayonnaise sandwich.

Then it just cut out completely halfway through, with only a smattering of whispering, like even Dave Grohl was admitting he just wasn't putting any more effort into this lost cause.

There's plenty of music I hate that I at least can understand why somebody would like it. I'm afraid I will never get the Foo Fighters, though. They're right there with Slipknot, cheese on broccoli, organized religion, and crown molding. I just don't get it. I just don't.

Unlike Foo Fighters, I actually have a Slipknot song in a playlist. I can see how someone who prefers faster heavier music may not like them, though.

But, well, people [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuTMWgOduFM]different things....

Oh, man, young Jarvis! Saw him (solo) in his twilight years at Coachella sometime in the last decade. ;)

Clearly you needed to turn the volume up thrice as loud. To ten, if not 11. And play it while driving home a bit pissed off. He comes back from the whispering with some convincing yelling and yowling. In any case, it definitely doesn't carry the same weight at normal volume.

I'd agree it's not the most technically skilled piece ever. But music has an emotional memory component - when it came out I was in the midst of one of my worst depressions and the mix of melancholy and quiet rage the album has kind of fit that moment in my life.

So sure, the album isn't "Astral Weeks" but it fits a certain mood for me.

Well, it could be Portland or Vancouver. Or maybe even Oklahoma City or NYC. Or Pullman, if we were talking about college football.

I guess there's Austin as well, where I have lived, as far as atmosphere goes. And yes, F_ OKC! :)

Look at you.

Not even in this game, and still trying to bluff.

I will say definitively that I did not draw a cop role this game.

Spoiler alert.

Are you upset about the basketball team?
