MFED: Are you sure that there are also DRM-free Games on Epic? Do you have a list of these games?
Maybe anyone can help to answer this question?
There is a thread about it here:

v1989: To be honest, I am being a little bit annoyed. We are waiting a loong time for Civ 5 and 6 to finally come to GOG, so we can buy it, only for 2k to give free version for Epic.

bluethief: Epic pays for these freebies, that's why 2k does this.
Tencent pays for the freebies, not epic. However, they still haven't figured out this thing => subsidizing users doesn't make them loyal. Ongoing UX & customer support + value does.

They get money for it from Epic, also acts as a good relationship builder between the two and a big jump in brand marketing. GOG, it gets some sales of course, 1 tweet and a news letter, a expected cut deal. The overall deal isn't that sweet unfortunately

Civ V Complete is about $50 (which saves 67% vs buying each thing separately). Perhaps an initial deep discount of -85% (~$7.50) on GOG would be compelling enough to make some sales. In any case I hope GOG still plans on releasing Civ V eventually (maybe in six months or so, assuming no more Civ freebies on competitors' stores :P), but if they're unlikely to make much money I can't blame them for not wanting to bother.
Meh. I'd rather pay 50 bucks for a Gog version.
Why am I reminded of the Simpsons episode where Bart sells his soul for a quick buck?

I agree. I haven't bought anything on Epic yet, only grabbed the free games and haven't even played anything. I also don't mind paying more and have a better service and nice features. It really adds to the value of the game/experience I'm going to have.

It's ironic, but I remember the Steam Spy guy (that now works for Epic) giving an interview after the launch of EGS, saying that Epic had no intention of having big sales that covered the whole store (like GOG and Steam do) because that devaluates the games. Fast forward a few months and they started giving free games every week and having Mega Sales where they even give unlimited 10€ coupons to slash the prices even more, making some publishers changes prices/pull games from sale because of the devaluation.

I mean, it's great that the prices can be that low and that people get free games every week, but now I have the feeling that any game can become free anytime, so there's no reason to buy anything.

At least they're improving the store/user experience, albeit in a slow pace.
Is it good without the DLCs?

Civ 6 is incomplete without the DLCs. And there are more DLCs coming (like Season 2 DLCs). I'd stick with Civ 5 and 4 if I knew it. But you can decide for yourself by redeeming it on epicstore for free, if you don't mind to have any game there. It's 4 days left for claiming it for free I believe.

I've been having fun with it. It reminds me quite a bit of the early Civilizations, 1 and 2, but with laced with some improvements from the later games. The DLCs do add more civilizations to the game as well as other game modes and natural disasters, but if you can live without those, the free version is more than enough fun.

You mean he said the same thing that GOG's Guillome Rambourg and Trevor Longino said back in 2012?

If it's DRM free, which it seems to be, then I ain't sellin' nothin' man.

Didn't know about that, thanks for pointing it out.

Guess they all have a change of heart when they figure big sales bring lots of customers. However, that's from 2012. Epic should know better to even think about not doing big sales in 2019.

Oh nice, I like how many epic games dont have drm , way more in % than steam.
Hope they will improve the store so it can be a real competitive vs steam.
