The last article from the devs of shovel knight on gamasutra give a breakdown of the 1 200 000 copies they sold of the game on pretty much all platforms :

http://gamasutra.com/blogs/DavidDAngelo/20160414/270282/Feat_Unlocked_One_Million_Copies_of_Shovel_Knight_Sold.php

GOG is only 1% of their total, like humble and the PS 3, but that's not particularly strange considering it's the very definition of a platformer and console game. What is pretty cool is that it's only on the 16 page of the best seller list on GOG, around the like of stasis, darkest dungeon or blackguards 2. So plenty of games have sold more than 12 thousand here.

Plenty of other stats in their article to speculate about...

EDIT : the percentage are rounded that said, so it's 12 000 +/- 6000 copies sold here.

And this is for a indie game that was never discounted more than 33% off on all platforms, and that happened only one time on gog.com
Pretty impressive that million, I'd say ;)
Evidently I bought one of them.

When the hell did that happen?
I would love to see such stats for games which I actually own here like Pillars of Eternity.
A little comparison : Steamspy says that Stasis sold around 22 000 copies on steam, and probably around 6000 here (or more...), since it's near shovel knight.

This place is truly dominated by point and clickers... huh ?
I could be wrong but wasn't shovel knight discounted more often on Steam than GOG? If that's the case then it (1% share) isn't surprising because people tend to buy more when it's discounted.
That's it? For such an awesome game, that's a damn shame.

Hunter65536: wasn't shovel knight discounted more often on Steam than GOG?
it was
Once again i'll add that another reason it probably didn't sell as well here is because hardly anyone knew it was coming to gog until damn near last minute. I didn't find any info about it coming here until about a few days before release. -_-
I love this game. Gives me that Megaman kick.

I don't know, but I would assume that you got told to do it by some similar mental powers as those that are currently telling me to purchase it. I'm struggling to keep them out.

That's kind of sad. Shovel Knight is one of the best 2D actioners ever made. Easily. It deserves to have done better on here.
At this point you have to be thinking, $30k minus taxes for one year’s salary
I want a salary like that!
Given a variety of circumstances, some already mentioned, it's not too surprising - GOG of course is on far fewer people's radar. Still, 12,000 ain't bad.
