fortune_p_dawg: That's it? For such an awesome game, that's a damn shame.
supp99: The reality is shovel knight is a copy of many platform games us old timers have played to death. AKA shovel knight was not the second coming of 8 bit style platfom/action game innovation. I'm sorry but the NES graphics really are past there time, while they are a charming throwback I would have liked to take the art team of say awesomenauts and apply it to a game like shovel knight. There's no need to release a game with crap 8 bit graphics.
Many of us old timers are burnt the hell out because of how bad the industry has been for the last 20 years, the last 15 years of drm, dlc, mmo/f2p has been a kind of nightmare for any of us who gamed in the 90's and aren't braindead. The lack of modding tools/level editors and game servers you can actually run yourself.
Thanks to valve/blizzard/everquest/world of warcraft, the entire game industry is increasingly releasing locked down games to a new ignorant/tech illiterate generation of players who are ignorantly destroying gaming culture by funding these criminal organizations.
there's nothing crap about shovel knight's graphics, they're excellent. in fact, if shovel knight had the graphics of awesomenauts i'd have probably not purchased it at all. yes, i think graphics are important, especially when trying to create a cohesive whole; something shovel knight does better than pretty much any throwback platformer out there, with odallus coming in second.
and as for your second point about industry corruption and billion dollar companies locking there games down, etc... i agree entirely! it's actually why i spend the vast majority of my gaming dollars here at gog and itch.io. steam can eat a dick, screwplay can eat a dick, origin can eat a dick, the entire console industry can eat a dick, and lastly battle.net can choke on a penis as well.
