It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate, and the pop up is very distracting. I had to disable my windows update because of that. So I was wondering if upgrading is worth it? Not to mention the free deadline is closing.

Upgrade, use it for two weeks, then decide if you want to stay there or use the revert option. Once you've upgraded, you can reinstall 10 on that machine without issues, and you also have 1 month from the upgrade to revert to your previous OS.
I'd say it is, as someone who has used it since it deployed last June.

Oh, and by the way. You can set the upgrade times and they've fixed that for the most part. There's an even bigger update on the way that should make things even nicer!

Yeah agree with 2nd poster. Upgrade and taste it yourself. Your previous OS will still be eligible.

Nggak usah dengerin orang2 bego yg blg OS nya isi nya mata2 semua.

If you don't, I'm sure Microsoft will forcefully update it without your consent soon enough :P

I upgraded to Win10 a while back.

[PROS]
Its fast. I can boot from cold in about 7 seconds
Its Stable.
Its not Win8

[CONS]
It hovers between 7 and 8. Most of the proper function of Win7 is there, but also has the idiot user functions of win8. For example you have both classic Control Panel and the New Settings Screen. Sometimes Setting can do the job, other times you need to go to control panel. There is an odd interplay you need to be aware of as a power user.

[PRONS (pro and con)]
You have Windows Store, which may give you the option to buy new AAA titles with out Steam, but buyer beware they're UWP Apps which means they're slightly inferior to the version sold via Steam.
Yes, may as well since it is free. You can always go back to Win 7 if you don't like it, but then you still have the upgrade reserved for free.

I have upgraded and it has been running pretty smoothly so far.
Technically, it's the best version of Windows I've ever used. Fast, slick, elegant. Ideologically, I'm increasingly making my Linux Mint installation the primary system I use... If it weren't so damn inconvenient anyway.
Well it is Nice and tight... I umm.. was thinking about something else!

>power user
>whines about settings and control panel

Learn to use gpedit, secpol and registry. The words power and user are used too simply nowadays (eg for people who are able to update drivers, and can uninstall programs). In older times people who only managed to use graphical settings menus were called regular users. Most are and will be dumbusers.

And yes OP. Uprade, try for a week or 2 and then if you don't like it you can revert through Settings-> Update&Recovery->Recovery

I'm a Certified Windows Engineer, since NT4, I think that puts me in the Power user role.

My comments about Control Panel and Setting Screen where related to normal user tasks. Altering Power settings, configuring file associations and general run of the mill settings.

Edit:
Just re-read my original post. I'm assuming since the OP has Professional edition he was more likely to mess around with settings.

Stick with Win7. Google for GWX registry opt-out and the prompts will go away.

Win7 has a much better UI. 10 has some good features in its guts, but it has a TON of anti-features (such as being spyware).

I think it is an improvement over windows 8.1 or vista.
Unsure over 7

But don't expect any huge differences.
