There is a difference between "other" and "(almost) all other gaming companies. Other, yes. (Almost) all, no.

Fine, but that event wasn't just relevant for e-sports, it made people finally realize how China (Tencent) is able to influence\control many western companies.
The issue was about Honk Kong's rebellion against China's oppressing government and about how CCP's propaganda tried to silence any news about it.
(Btw RIP, now with the Covid19 issue they'll find any excuse to imprison the rebels)

If you were boycotting simply because other people were boycotting, then it doesn't really matter does it?

Tencent only owned less than 10% of the company at the time, yet you're saying it influenced Blizz enough to ban the esports dude for his political statement? Or would they have done it regardless, because they want to make as much money as possible and didn't want to piss off a massive market?

Tencent owns Path of Exile dev GGG, yet they were free to do/say whatever they wanted about the situation.

It's not so black and white, all chinese companies aren't evil.

Look up why people were boycotting. If you agree with it, and don't think the reasons have become invalid (it hasn't imo), then it's unfortunately a case of what Breja stated.

Tons of other great games, but if you really really want to play Blizzard games, then it's still technically possible without Battlenet. You can buy copies off of Amazon that either work without Battlenet (D2, WC3, SC1), or can be cracked to work without it (I think)

Personal boycotts are looked tantrums. Nobody cares. So lots of folks only join boycotts to put a collective pressure on an organization.

That collective pressure was applied and some results came out of it. The boycott is finished.

So now, you can buy their games.

I just won't anymore because I haven't seen anything worth playing.

But, anyway, in both cases ActiBlizz still looked evil and worthy of a boycott.
(for me it's easy because I don't play any of their new titles, but I can understand it would be difficult)

Chinese companies aren't evil per se, it's the dictatorship that makes them so (see also Xiaomi).

And remember, they're not "Blizzard." They're Activision Blizzard. Keep boycotting Activision Blizzard.

That depends on what you mean by "settled". Did Blizzard in any real way change or make up for what they did? No. Are people still talking about it? No, they stopped as soon as Blizzard showed them shiny new trailers for Diablo and WoW. Seriously, I find the way people's phony reddit outrage evaporated instantly the minute those cinematics dropped to be more disgusting than anything Blizzard did.
