Does this strike anyone else as really fucking hilarious? These Dreamcast games which are from like 2001, have now had Denuvo added to them in 2018. You're probably thinking "well, they aren't the same games. they remade them all in Unity/Unreal4/Dragon". Nope, the same games. But now with 100% more Denuvo Anti Tamper!

So yeah normally I don't really think much of these things but this time I just thought it was really funny.

What do you think? Are any of you guys pre-ordering Shenmue I and II: Denuvo Edition?
I'm not exactly surprised, especially since I assume SEGA is publisher.

GOG could try the angle of "what about three months after releasing DRM'd on Steam, you give us a DRM-free version, since you'll have gotten all your major sales there anyway and most of the bug fixes outta the way" ... or something like that :P *shrugs*
Yes, I'm really sad about the path Sega has taken. I'm still waiting to play Sonic Mania, because I won't infect my PC with Denuvo (btw, I don't own a PS4, XOne or Switch).
I just saw a game recently that I wanted, and I had to not buy it because it said that denuvo was on it. Such a shame.

I remember, it was a Sonic game I was looking at for my kid.

This.
Sega loves DRM. It's the reason Warhammer 40K Dawn of War isn't here yet :(

which is weird since the page doesn't say anything about Denuvo being retroactively added. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4570/Warhammer_40000_Dawn_of_War__Game_of_the_Year_Edition/

It's the same thing with many older Squeenix games like Tomb Raider Legend and DX:HR.

I guess some of these Japanese publishers just don't want to even acknowledge piracy is a thing? If all attention is focused on Steam, they can prevent people from learning about the "outside world" of PC games (whether it be GOG, piracy, whatever)? Maybe part of it is cultural.
Maybe they just don't like money and Steam cashed in a favor from them for something.
Oh well another game not too buy then.

Heck no. Steam DRM is, in and of itself, enough reason not to buy them anyway.
We have seen Denuvo on free games. We now see Denuvo on old games. Clearly, the next logical step would be to add Denuvo on free old games.

1-2 years is probably far more realistic
Lol, the crackers will be delighted to look at this...

I thought the first three months were the most critical sales period for games.

THQ owns it if I am not mistaken?... my box copies all show THQ plastered all over it with Relics entertainment.

Give it a few days at best. I have faith in them.
