My best mate was involved in a car accident and will be convalescing for a while. I'd like to give him access to my game library on the GOG servers. Is sharing your logon a violation?

Note. He's a sensible chap who normally has little time for gaming, and certainly wouldn't pass it on.

According to the GOG User Agreement it's not allowed to share your account with some else:

"Your GOG account and GOG content are personal to you and cannot be shared with, sold, gifted or transferred to anyone else."

My 2 cents : Nobody will knock to his door to check if he owns the GOG library...
If you do provide access to your account to him, do remember that he'll probably have to pass the "two-step authentication" first, meaning that he'll have to insert a security code sent to your email.

lol does GOG has any region restriction shit like steam? idk... anyway it wont be a problem until u make any purchases from another country... you can simply share.. I don't think they'll track and ban(It isn't FBI lol).
Nobody is going to stop you. I treat GOG games the same, as if I've bought them from retail. Meaning I freely lend them to family members or best friends.

what difference does it make? it's not like he's sharing it to many like pirated software. See it like burning a copy on a cd and giving it to a few close people.

It would be simpler to copy some installers to a pen drive and copy them onto the machine, I wouldn’t grant anyone acces to your account, nor would I use galaxy in that case. I don’t think sharing a couple of games is going to cause any trouble (though it is against t&c), but granting someone access to any of your accounts anywhere is a bad idea and a security risk.

Oh, just in terms of your thread title, what about STDs, is sharing still caring? :o)

Why don't you "lend him your laptop that already had all those games installed on it, because it's yours", while he's in the hospital? There, crisis averted. If he likes the games, he might even become a GOGer himself, I assume.

Depends on your definition of close people. Some people with a social network of 100s may consider all of them close people. :)

When you sign up with GOG, you essentially are agreeing you won't do this. Whether you do it or not, is up to your conscience. But keep in mind, once you do, it's always easier to justify doing it again, over and over and the fine line tends to get broader and broader.

The world is not black and white, there are many things out there that have no clearly defined answers. But the policy GOG has is fairly simple when it comes to sharing and clearly defined. It's also a sign of trust on their part.

My mom has always raised me to be honest with the world around me. So, for me, the answer is clear.

If this was a truly lawless world, then I might feel the same as you. But we aren't part of a post-apocalyptic world yet, so I guess I'll still play by the rules for now. :)

+1 WinterSnowfall too. A better solution would be to make him an account and gift him a couple games. Even better would be to visit him and play online MP/coop together to kill time quicker. He'll appreciate it long after he gets better.

Another +1 (though he should probably make his own account so he can use his own email =P)
