So here's the situation:

For the past 2 months GOG had the files needed to update Kingdom Rush and Kingdom Rush Frontiers which are currently both outdated and unplayable. Kingdom Rush contains a bug which prevents finishing the game in 100%, and Kingdom Rush Frontiers is lacking a functionality which newer versions have. And of course both games are missing a ton of other minor fixes.

Current GOG versions:

Kingdom Rush: Galaxy and standalone installer: 4.2.15 (2020-08-04)
Kingdom Rush Frontiers: Galaxy and standalone installer: 1.4.4a (2017-05-18, Windows), 1.4.4 (2016-12-21, Mac, Linux)

Newest versions:

https://github.com/cigumo/krli/wiki/Changelog

I know this for a fact because it was confirmed that GOG has the files through my ticket. This is regarding both galaxy and manual installers. And because the official confirmation from GOG came on 2 December, then let's assume for the sake of this issue that it's been 3 weeks of GOG's inaction since they've received the files. Even though devs sent it to GOG 2 months ago.

https://www.gog.com/upload/forum/2020/12/80a157061fba4f8ee9f245860300d8910f445cd8.png

So here's the deal:

1. GOG won't give me a refund for these games, because I've bought them years ago, even though they don't work as they should.

2. GOG won't update these games by themselves, even though they have all the files, because they don't care.

3. There is this way, through which developers can push these updates by themselves, but it either doesn't work, or developers don't have access to it.

https://docs.gog.com/updates/

https://docs.gog.com/offline-installers/

https://docs.gog.com/bc-quick-start/

https://docs.gog.com/faq/#builds

And so the only recourse I have left is to shame GOG relentlessly every day until I get what I've paid for: Playable games.

23 December, 2020.

It's been three weeks of GOG's inaction towards my games.

Shame on you, GOG.

Have you contacted the Devs themselves, are you sure GoG are the culprits here?

What did the devs say?
What kind of updates are missing? Is it essential bug fixes? Or is it just something like a galaxy update? Or a language that you wouldn't use update? Or something else minor?

Something tells me that it's a store that sells outdated or broken games should contact the developers / publishers to solve these problems, not a customer who has already paid for these games.

If the store doesn't want to do it (and GOG most likely doesn't want to do it*), they must return the money to the customer.

* - For example, GOG "couldn't" contact 1C for many years, until this year one of the users contacted 1C, and they immediately updated the broken version of King's Bouny: The Legend. Yes, GOG was definitely aware of this problem, but instead of contacting the publisher and asking for a fixed build of the game, GOG advised its customers to do THIS:
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/212454569-King-s-Bounty-The-Legend-Upper-Hadar-location-impossible-to-talk-to-NPCs

Oh, and GOG didn't even say "thank you" to the person who solved this problem.

GOG could send a naked PR person to walk the streets of the city while an angry mob of the usual suspects throw rotten vegetables and mock relentessly.

On the other hand, they could just ignore the n-th complain on the forum and focus on providing support and solve tickets ASAP.

I am curious about what the replies to this ticket has been so far.
Wouldn't it be more practical to just pirate the games? I don't know for certain but there is usually a torrent with the latest update included.

I'm serious. You are a paying customer, it's just data which should have your name on it. Or are you trying to make a point?

First off it is not all on GOG here to update the game because they can't without the developer's help since they don't have access to the necessary files needed to fix the game. The developers of said games need to send the patches and updates in form of a Galaxy update and an offline update. So in this case I think it is on the developer more than it is on GOG because they forgot to make an offline update file or the information to send to GOG to make an offline update file (Not sure who makes the offline setup files (GOG or the Developer of the game)

The problem is GoG has very little power to influence Devs (they're not the dominant platform like Steam who can dictate terms), pretty much all they can do is pull the game, which if the bug only effects the minority is a punishment of other users more than the Devs.

Personally I'd love GoG to be able to force Devs to support and patch games as regularly as they do on Steam, but I know that it simply isn't an option.

Can I join in on this to ahame gog.com in having them to update video games that have multiplayer that does not function anymore to function?

Like to get gog.com to have Epic Games update Unreal, not Unreal Tournament (1999) to remove GameSpy, like Epic Games did for Unreal Tournament (1999), Unreal Tournament 2004, and Unreal Tournament III.

As well as to release Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal Tournament III on gog.com for sale.

How much more money do we need to throw at gog.com to do this? CD Projekt RED sold thirteen million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 on the day they released it for sale.

That is $780 million dollars (USD) that CD Projekt RED earned in one day. From selling Cyberpunk 2077 at $60 dollars (USD).

Come on gog.com just use some money to convince Epic Games or something.
