People have been saying that on this forum for literally 10 years. People have also said GOG will embrace DRM any day now for 10 years. Yet here GOG remains, doing what it always did.

Even if GOG went under they are big enough to attract a buyer who wants to make a go at Steam and Epic. Their name recognition alone is worth significant money. The DRM free aspect would of course be up in the air, but hey we've got DRM free versions forever right? You back up your games right? ;)

Well... this time it is hard to not notice that at least their services right now seem to be non existent right now ... at least for what we can see in the forum: unanswered support tickets, no moderation in the forums, no removal of spam anymore, automatically created product news .... it is hard to neglect all those things. I don't think that GOG is actually going down but it really seems as if they are trying to cutting costs wherever they can. I simply hope it's just a phase.
I can only agree. Shame on you GOG! They introduced that 30 days refund so that their customers are always happy with their purchase. Now they have outdated OL installer and their solution is "use Galaxy" even though they could have simply used some goodwill and make it an exception to keep their customer? I said it once and I will repeat it again and again: GOG has absolutely no idea how to keep loyal customers ... or they aren't interested in doing so because they are just aiming to get new ones not caring about the old ones which already purchased several hundred or thoussands of games here. If you are going the legal way, please let us know what came out of it.

Was it already too old when you logged the ticket, or has it just become "too old" because of the time GOG took to respond?

You know, I think GOG's got a point about it being a bit of a long time.

It's not a question of whether it's old or not. It is especially that gog does not apply its policy to offer the game in up-to-date offline setup. And that you have to go through galaxy to update it when it is clearly stipulated on their sites that galaxy is optional for updates. "An optional gaming client

By making galaxy compulsory they violate their own rules whether the game is new or old. And if they don't respect their contract, he breaks so he has to reimburse me, it's the law.

I left a lengthy text with support regarding the problems mentioned. That I am currently unhappy with the quality of the offline installation. A certain obligation to use Galaxy when GOG says it's optional. I've given a lot to GOG over the last few years (I've even helped a few people working at GOG from time to time, I've contacted numerous studios, I've managed the French forum on my own for a few years). All this has sometimes caused me health problems.

So I really hope that GOG will take my message on board and improve things.

Probably it's just because I see it as rock bottom of the gaming barrel, but the influx of porn games always reeked to me of desperation. It certainly made a mockery of whatever was left of GOG's supposed curation.

If that consumer protection complaint was raised by someone who complained within a month of buying the game, then I hope it would succeed. Hopefully someone in that position will step up, make the complaint, and push GOG to keep the offline installers up to date.

You've had at least 7 years since you bought the DLC. If you're the person raising the complaint, you'll have to answer questions such as:

* Were you satisfied with it when you bought it?

* At the time that you bought it, did you expect GOG to still be trading in 2023? How much did that influence your purchasing decision?

All very troubling when this happens, and only adds fuel to the fire and angst that a good number feel toward GOG.

I don't know how much GOG is to blame, but feel sure that the game provider certainly has some degree of blame if it is not totally GOG's fault.

One would think that an update would be easier to create for an Offline Installer, and that the Galaxy version should be an adaption of that, but apparently that is not the case, no matter how logical it would be to do things that way.

There certainly seems to be an added level of complexity when you try and create an Offline Installer version from a Galaxy version update.

But hey, GOG have a weird method of building even their Offline Installers in the first place. They should be keeping it simple, but as is all too often these days, with websites as well, it is all about doing something tricky rather than simple and sensible.

I don't think the forum stuff matters at all because GOG has never cared much about this forum, but I agree they seem like a store on a budget nowadays. Some stuff like the NSFW sales reeks of desperation to me. It does make me worry to some degree. Like I said though, I think their market share (small as it is compared to Steam) and name recognition is worth so much they won't just close shop.

Like I said in the other thread, I'm not sure what the long-term answer is.

It is not about the game itself - it is about false advertizing which GOG clearly does right now if they force people to use Galaxy to update their game.
