EckoShy: I'm sorry if it seems that way, but it's really not my goal. I've been a GOG user for a long time now, I love their service, but when this happened it was very distressing and it's hard to find answers sometimes
It happens. But in the last 6 months i feel i've seen more than the rest of the time i've been here combined... i wonder how many of them were from steam and came only because of TW3 and Galaxy...

EckoShy: I'm only asking for refunds on games which I already had copies of when, according to their promo page, we should not have been able to get.
That's not true Your just not reading what what actually stated correctly.

It says:

What if I own all the games in the Piñata?

We're prioritising games that you don't have yet, but in some cases you may get a game you own already - if that happens, we'll convert your spare copies to a gift.

This does not mean you won't get a game again if you own it already or if you own everything in the promo. This means their probably running some form of an algorithm to select un-owned games first but that does not mean in rare cases it won't pick something you do own. Just that they are making un-owned games a higher priority than owned ones.

Tauto: ...
You obviously don't like GOG, why are you still here?
From my understanding of the "read more" section on pinatas, it says "we do our best to prioritize games you already have. if you do happen to get one, we can turn it into a gift." I wish it did say "you can get a refund" but it seems the intent with this giveaway is to just turn it into a gift so you can give it to someone else, not get a refund. At least that's how it's worded. Which is pretty lame, if every separate giveaway/gamble has its own rules. Or unnecessarily complicates the whole "I got a game I don't want; now what?" thing.

EckoShy: ...
Don't worry, the piñatas are explicitly refundable if you don't like what you got, and you don't even need to give a reason. You did everything right. Just don't redeem the gift and they should sort it out just like they did the first time.

Bear in mind that your second refund request was made at around 6:30 PM on Friday night, so it's not unreasonable for them not to have responded yet. See what happens tomorrow.

I have over 600 games here, and with any luck I'll manage 600 more. The forum is second to none, the friends I have made here are dear, and support (while admittedly difficult to contact at times) has always been strait with me.

Yeah, I'm a fanboy, and with all these bullshit threads as of late, GOG could use a fanboy or two.

ps. Galaxy is a piece of shit, but I'm still NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!!! :P

CharlesGrey: I'm picturing thousands of people mass-buying those damn pinatas, for a chance to get the game(s) of their choice for cheap, and then attempting to get a refund for all the games they didn't want.

I feel kind of sorry for the GOG support. ( Although part of the blame lies with GOG, or at the very least, with whoever came up with this genius sale idea. :P )

OlivawR: So you feel bad for something you assume it's happening with no info if that it's actually happening?
You're right, clearly the scenario I've described is entirely unrealistic, since people on the internet are always kind and considerate, and no one would possibly abuse this loophole for their own gain. How silly of me. A-hah-hah.

Why is like all the people who say that are those who freely admit that haven't really used it on daily basis? Mind you it has it's issues and I won't deny that. But it's far from a piece a shit and it's arguably gotten better with each consecutive update. :P

Agreed on all of that. ( Including Galaxy, more or less. :D )

Hmmm If i were to program it, each game would have a weight of 1, while unowned games have a weight of 4. This means you're 4x more likely to get games you don't own yet. Either that or simply remove the other games so you don't get games you don't own...

I suppose i should go through every game on the list, figure out which ones i don't have, and then change my pinata trading appropriately...

edit: Nope, i own all the games now (Except Dreamfall and Republique), so i got only games i didn't own, then the remainder just were gift codes...

I see what you mean, but even then I think it's still quite unclear. Especially since mods here in the forums have explicitly said it "should not" give us games we already own. Not that there's a lesser chance of that happening.

Either way, you've all helped a great deal and my confidence in GOG is restored. I'll wait out the next couple days to see if I get that refund. I might even try my luck at some pinata's, if the next batch of games shows promise.

I sorta hoped they would change the games the pinata gives every 24 hours... We'll see.

"Not going anywhere", true, most of us are here to stay.

As for the OP, there are shady business practices to be found all over the world. Nothing new.

What's new is idiots buying those pinatas and thinking they will end up with some triple A title just by buying a $3 pinata.

Imho 55 hours is still within reason considering support requests multiply during big sales but the support team most likely remains the same size all year around. I guess they can't just grab some extra unemployed people off the streets and train them in 5 minutes to deal with the increase of support tickets. Also, every time one emails support before they reply, your ticket gets reset all the way to the back of the queue, most people already know this but one can easily forget.

Marioface5: To my knowledge, GOG Support does not work on the weekends.
I don't know about Sundays but on Saturdays, there appears to be support. I just sent a ticket on Saturday at noon and received a reply from support only 6 hours later at 6:19 PM CET.
