I asked in the game's forum but no reply. So:

Is the only purpose of getting those statues of fortune from secrets additional money + unlocking achievements? I'm having trouble locating all of them, even after checking online, and would happily skip them if that's all they do. But if there is more to them (like find 20 statues to open a secret area, or unlock more weapons in shop), then I guess I'll have to look harder.

Far as i can recall, the statues only serve for achievement purposes (and a bit of cash obviously).
Also the secret areas that contain them are generated procedurally.
Furthermore you can pick up the same statue twice (tho in that case it will only award money).

So in the end it's up to you if you wanna go that extra mile.

I had to create the thread on mobile since a bug is preventing me from creating threads from my PC. Then edited to to type the post itself on my PC, since I hate typing on a mobile.
