I was finally able to get it but if I understand it right it will only stay at ones account for the duration of the promo and will disappear later on.
So it is in its essence just longer Free Weekend.
Or am I getting it wrong?

I managed to create an account and get into the client, but when I click on the game's page, NVIDIA's driver crashes. Won't blame Epic for that, NVIDIA makes crappy drivers, though I'm not sure why a launcher would trigger that. At any rate, no chance of installing that game for now.
Thanks for the notice!

Permanent.

synfresh: CDPR isn't any different in this sense when it came to Witcher 3 and Galaxy.
except that it is: optional. One could download the game installer outside of the client.
so please cut the bullshit.

WesleyB: The main reason it exists is to serve as a marketplace for Unreal Engine 4's assets
The main reason it exists is to gain marketshare while creating a monopoly for their products.

WesleyB: if you love metroidvanias you'll be missing out because of "principle-schminciples."
missing out??? tell that to all the pirates that don't miss absolutely anything, easily playing the game without any clients, drm schemes and other utter crap like that.

gibbeynator: I'm sorry, but if you don't get this, you're missing out on one of the best Metroidvanias since Super Metroid. But but but DRM! Who cares, it's free, you have NOTHING to lose.

torvuseremita: I have never understood the personal information argument against DRM.
If you have a heat/light bill, they have your personal information.
If you have a phone bill, they have your personal information.
If you have a job, they have your personal information.
If you have a bank account, they have your personal information.
If you have a credit card, they have your personal information.
If you have an email address, they have your personal information.
If you have social media, they have your personal information.
The brainwash is strong in these ones.

koima57: Permanent.
Still, the phrasing sounds Windows-10-like, i.e., per device license. The question is whether this becomes part of the account, and can be downloaded again later and played on another PC, or it's only permanent on the PC you've installed it on, so it won't stop working, but you have no way of running it elsewhere or reinstalling if you need to.

Going by a few other responses in this thread makes it seem like an STD though as opposed to a harmless pamphlet.

If only STD's could be deleted that easily.
Turns out that NVIDIA just release a special driver to fix GeForce 860M crashes. Hopefully that will fix my problems.
Thank you very much for the news! I´m trying to download it now.
I did bite the bullet and the game seems to be, well decent, not triple aaa quality or anything but it works and runs well and it is good. It's just weird that nowadays 2-d with 3-d is so weird. It is old school, kinda flashback to flashback if I would have played that game more. As a free game, that totally rocks ass, much better than many indie games ever try to be. =)
With the new NVIDIA drivers I could download and install the game. It runs, but performance is pretty bad.

There's a good reason for providing your personal information for those. They wouldn't really work otherwise. Also, national laws dictate how the personal information can be used in those cases, in many countries it is highly regulated..

No they don't. At least I haven't provided any to them.

synfresh: The point of the giveaway is to promote the client, nothing more. They designed a client and they want you to use it. CDPR isn't any different in this sense when it came to Witcher 3 and Galaxy.
Quite wrong, as TW3 doesn't require the client
