I have recently had my Windows 8 updated to 10...and neither of these games are working. Settlers 3 just hangs up on me, so I changed the file names like advised to in another forum and just get DirectDraw error messages upon startup, and Settlers 2 started but crashed and now won't even start!

Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

I feel like I have completely wasted my money. I even bought the Settlers 3 game on disc, but that doesn't work either!!

From "The Settlers 2" game's card:

"Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10) "

And:

"Please be advised that Windows 10 operating system will receive frequent hardware driver and software updates following its release; this may affect game compatibility."

From "The Settlers 3" game's card:

"Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8) "

No mention of Win10.

Settlers 2 is Dosbox so should not have problems. Is Dosbox running correctly by itself? Try running Settlers 2 manually from it and see if it works. Also, try tweaking the graphics options in you GOG Dosbox config.

She might be talking about The Settlers 2: 10th Anniversary, which is a much newer Windows game.
Unfortunately win 10 sucks bigtime for older games. I planned to migrate both of my laptops but it seems that one will stay win 7 indefinitely.
It is the 10th anniversary edition...

I don't know what DOSbox is and can't seem to find it anywhere uin my GOG galaxy window. I also can't configure the game like I used to be able to in Windows 8...this sucks massively

The 10th Anniversary Edition (Windows game) has no DOSBox, only the original Settlers 2 (DOS game) uses it.
The gamecard however states, that this version should run in W10.

You could try looking for answers in the Settlers subforum and or write to support.
