Well, I mean - I need to play Requiem first, don't I? Proper chronology is important. I'm also terrible at working at my backlog.

System Shock would be a welcome addition, but for anyone wanting to play it, be warned: the control scheme is notoriously clunky. It could use a good remake.

I'm quite sure Night Dive will improve the control scheme given what they've done with Strife and are doing with Noctropolis and Turok.

Yeah, wasn't the general consensus that it wasn't here originally b/c of the $20 price tag, and now probably any other number of reasons (besides Source) - music rights, lack of interest from Activision, etc.?

Still, when the good waves GOG has going on and the weight they can now throw around, maybe they are or will be willing to make something happen.

If NightDive has it, then they're working on a re-release since that's their entire business model.

Elmofongo: But we have a Source engine game on GOG now. (Forgot what it is but I have been told there is)
Doing a quick search, it looks like Consortium uses the Source engine.

I bought my Bloodlines (digital) from DotEmu, which was completely Steam- and DRM-free. Later DotEmu stopped selling it though.

That would be a pleasant development. Hopefully I could adjust to it. These days I find myself a little bit spoiled. Retro graphics hold a certain appeal to me, but once characters and items get a little too blocky I get put off.

You mean Redemption? You don't need to play it (although it's nice). Both games have nothing in common but the VtM license. It's like saying you would need to complete Jedi Knight to be able to play Republic Commando.

Bloodlines isn't a sequel to Redemption - they are completely independant from one another. The reason that they are named similarly is that they both use the White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade setting.

On the one hand, I'm happy that Shock 1 will be released here. On the other hand, it really, REALLY sucks that Night Dive had the systemshock.org community pull System Shock Portable. I was hoping that if they get around to releasing the game, they'd release the original Floppy/CD-versions, clunky controls and all, while leaving Portable up on systemshock.org.

Read the post linked in the OP here. The reason they are asking for System Shock Portable is because it is distributing copyrighted material they own. They say they have no objection to a mod that will modify the original SS to the portable state, as long as no copyrighted materials are used.

Resurrection, Return of ..., Reimagined, Respiration...

I've played through both games, and I didn't find any connection (except for the VtM setting, of course).
