ZFR: hehehe what now? You suggesting I think RW, adalia and greek are a scum team?
avatar
Brasas: Not suggesting, I'm stating it directly. Reverse correlation is still correlation. For greek the alignment is positive, for the other two the alignment is reversed ... not sure what the opposite of bussing is called though... buddying perhaps.
lol. I've got reads on everyone here, with the possible exception of kusu and blotunga. The correlation is going to be positive or negative no matter whom I've picked.
avatar
Lifthrasil: So, I call for your input and, connected to that, your inofficial vote: Path 1 (Brasas+flying blind after that, if 3F are drawn) or Path 2 (testing one more player, if so, whom would you suggest)?
Not sure if the question is specifically for Brasas, or if you're trying to get everyone's input, but here is mine:

Pick me. Not testing. Let's just get that 1L and be out of here.

ZFR: Also, you mean RW the player or RW the person. If the latter, then by your own admission you're leaning liberal on his replacement ash.
That is right. Purely by what she wrote, ashwald on her own would be leaning liberal for me. But that can be an act and I can't ignore the fact that she filled RWs slot. Therefore she will have the same alignment as RW did. As I said before: even though I know that RW often gets angry, him flipping out like that only makes sense if he was on the verge of losing. For my feeling he went beyond that 'normal RW agression' point after the 4-th L was passed. So my assumption is, that those two are linked: the fascists being close to losing and RW losing it.
EDIT: zoe, really sorry about the post merge!!!

Thanks for pointing out that that was unclear. Yes, I am trying to get everyone's input on this. After all it may be a game-deciding decision.

So, again: TO ALL: which of the two paths I proposed would you prefer?
Path 1 (Brasas)
or
Path 2 (testing someone else and whom?)

I see both paths as valid. Both have risks but both can also lead to a liberal win. For a long stretch of the game I saw Path 1 as sensible default. But I really feel bad about flying blind with respect to Greek's chancellor, should Brasas and I fail to enact that last L. So with Scene having, in my impression, dropped out of the 'trusted liberals' faction due to too many inconsistencies, I think we are in need of more information. I.e. testing someone might be a good idea.

So far we have one vote:
ZFR: Path 2 (ZFR)
avatar
Lifthrasil: Then Greek. I was quite sure of his liberality after the 4-th L, but then I asked some test-questions - which ashwald already quoted. Let's collect some things
-greek tried to position himself to become chancellor, NOT president, after the 3rd F
-his reaction to my suggestion to block him and me from being chancellor after passing F
-he actually suggested I make dedo president... which is a weird suggestion for a liberal
-and yes, the 'I know what you're doing' comment without later being able to state what that knowledge was, looks weird when going back to that.
Grrrr, now I have to type stuff to reply. Anyway

Of course my first choice was to be chancellor because I know you and I are liberals and I suggested that only you and I are chancellors until the end of the game because that way we 100% avoid a Hitler chancellor. Then people started complaining that I have the greatest chance to be Hitler and I accepted that ok? The second choice is me president.

Dedo president didn't seem a bad idea to me when I suggested it. If we take the 5L that were reported in the first deck , that means in the 3 cards dedo drew and the 2 cards that remained there was max 1L. So, there was a 60% he drew FFF, I don't see his draw negatively. Apart from that he cleared brasas knowing that in that case the next two governments would be brasas-me and me-Lift. And I remember RW saying something like "I ll show you now that brasas will pass the 2nd F" which didn't happen. I have cleared brasas so I read dedo as liberal.

And last of all, when I said the "brasas I know what you're doing" I was bullshitting and after Zfr started asking questions I dragged it a bit to troll him. Really no one got this? Everyone thought I was trying to show a hint to brasas this way? Whatever, I thought it was funny and I don't regret it.

Now about your chancellor there is something no one has mentioned. There might be fascists hidden in both "camps" and some conflicts may be just acting. For example ashwald and adalia could be fascists from one camp, Scene from the other, and one of kusu or blotunga the 4th one. So finding out that one member of a camp is fascist, doesn't clear the members of the other camp and we still need to be careful. If we try Zfr and agree that if Zfr passes L then him and ashwald and adalia are fascists, then brasas is 100% cleared because if he were fascist then dedo would be too and that would make 5 fascists. So he can safely be elected chancellor if needed. I'll think about it a bit more to see if there's a better choice.

Lifthrasil: ... I really feel bad about flying blind with respect to Greek's chancellor, should Brasas and I fail to enact that last L. ...
Ok, this testing of the waters I like.

Path 1 obviously

I am slightly surprised you consider Scene that unreliable that you see him dropped from the L block. But whatever, not sure that's a battle I should fight. For sure not now.

I do want to push back a bit on your stated reasoning for considering path 2.
1 - as I mentioned earlier I see the testing new blood path as a closed door by now, and I will reread you for how you reacted to my suggestion that instead of you Greek should investigate someone else (kusu or dedo IIR). I will give you a proper discount for self-interest / hypocrisy :) by which I mean it's NAI that you would consider testing new ppl nice, except when it impacted your individual chance to gain something. We're only human afterall. If you can save me the effort of rereading and do what is called admission against interest would be nice of you.
2 - why are you treating Greek as the default president in case you get 3F? I mentioned the "massclaim" concept for gov proposals precisely because if that is the case we all should reevaluate the game state. To some extent what you are doing is getting a snapshot now which might be useful to compare later - so kudos - I like that, but I find it odd that if you draw 3F you would not consider for example me as next president instead of Greek if you are so worried about him. Let me be clear, I find that somewhat concerning because:
a - there sure were a bunch of No votes for Scene / me - which could be WIFOM, but could be that you are F. Which implicates Greek and means I need to reeval ZFR/ash but anyway...
b - are you already planning a dispute with me Lift? Do you already know that unless you get 3F you will have to pass gov to someone else, because you will have to scum read me?
Let's hope I'm being paranoid.

Kindly comment.

ZFR: EDIT: zoe, really sorry about the post merge!!!
Why so nervous again? :)

avatar
Lifthrasil: ... and you really think that was a real admission and not just cynicism? Then what about Greeks admission of being Hitler? Did you take that to be literal too?
Greek's tone was much more jokey. I still didn't like what he did hence my "Ay caramba". I already said my main beef with Greek is that ... lightness of being. It's almost unbearable. ;)

I know you're more of an analytical type Lift. But reread ZFR's "cynicism" with an eye to tone please. Because to me that is much more indicative than the actual words he wrote. His typos and lack of grammatical clarity leading to that were signs he was getting nervous. The meltdown was clearly not a joke but an actual "fuck off". I am even going to admit Liberal ZFR had motives to flip the bird to Scene, but not to me. The pressure I put on him was not misrep, I quoted clearly exactly what problems I had with his posts. He chose to flip me off, instead of answering straightforwardly, and dragging "supposed" innocents through the mud with no regard. There is no way that was town play. If, and it's a yuuuuge IF, ZFR is town he might very well have lost the game for us right there.

avatar
ashwald: ... How do I see it? "Rope to hang themselves" seems like a taunt used instead of "testing these people who are so invested in attacking me, a liberal, by giving them power now that it can't lose the game for the liberals and seeing what they do with it". ... I'd have liked to see more people try their hands at government earlier on anyway, since one fascist policy casts doubts on two players at a time.

snip

He seems to be getting more and more frustrated from post 484 onward, especially after you said he was "weaseling" in 488.
You're somewhat dodging the question. Weaseling I might say. The question is why you / RW are not pushing harder for the alternative. Why cede the momentum and initiative. Why let scum run with the game?

I am not disputing you have a scum case against others. I disagree on its relevance and accuracy but whatever. Even granting it for the sake of argument, why are you / RW not influencing the others in the game? If he liked to see others in govs so much, where was the campaigning for it?

You do say it was testing, but it wasn't. Because the way RW (and ZFR to a lesser extent) positioned it, the Liberal outcome would be equally as scummy as the Fascist one. More maybe - there was so much "they have to pass Liberal because otherwise they get locked out" that it became borderline farcical.

And RW was weaseling. ZFR's "early" posts were the motte and the bailey was elsewhere. If that's what frustrated him into ragequitting he should have addressed the central examples under scrutiny rather than trying to focus elsewhere.

I still think he ragequit because he had no answer to my bolded. Do you?

Brasas: Well, I didn't understand WTF you were doing.
I loled reading this:)

And please don't start a conflict with Lift, the situation is complicated enough as it is, so just give him some slack and if we are divided as to the course of play, I ll agree with Lift's plan even if suboptimal to avoid distrust between liberals. You as president is logical and one of my first pkans was Lift-brasas now and if FFF then brasas-me, but I am too risky as chancellor. By putting you as president, you place me out of the government, do you really want this? I don't see why you would prefer this to a possible me-brasas government.

greeklover: Of course my first choice was to be chancellor because I know you and I are liberals and I suggested that only you and I are chancellors until the end of the game because that way we 100% avoid a Hitler chancellor.
You don't actually know that unless you're fascist though. You keep making this kind of slip of the tongue.

Things don't add up here. From your post 758 responding to RW:

avatar
greeklover: Btw I think I remembered the strategy I thought brasas was trying. I thought he was a liberal voting no to give hope to fascists that they could reject a liberal government if they all voted no, which would expose them. But if it was this, it didn't work.
This was unrelated to what you two were discussing at the time, you brought it up all by yourself since Brasas' name was mentioned.

Hum. That typo is a bit too much, the letters aren't even close to each other. Makes me question why it's there. And I'm noting you slyly picked a hypothetical that paints me, ZFR and Adalia in bad light.

You forget that I'm not RW. I'm his alt. Can't answer for his actions or strategies. What I can tell you is that they came from a liberal source and so they seem like testing to me.

avatar
Brasas: I still think he ragequit because he had no answer to my bolded. Do you?
I think he ragequit because he's RW.
And the mention of the cigar was hinted at Churchill, enemy of Hitler, no one got this one?

Changing stories much?

When asked about it, first you claimed you forgot, but will check soon.

avatar
greeklover: Well, I had figured something out but I don't remember it now:) I'll have to check past pages again, will post in a few hours.
Then, you claimed you thought Brasas was using a strategy you knew about.

avatar
greeklover: I remember that I thought brasas was liberal and using a technique that would show from the reaction of someone that he is fascist but I couldn't say it of course because then fascists would change behavior.
Then, few days later, you somehow remembered:

avatar
greeklover: Btw I think I remembered the strategy I thought brasas was trying. I thought he was a liberal voting no to give hope to fascists that they could reject a liberal government if they all voted no, which would expose them. But if it was this, it didn't work. And I bet more nos to the zfr government came from liberals.
And now all of a sudden you're saying it's trolling and, listen to this, you're "surprised" no one got this.
But it's all funny? What exactly is the funny part, and how exactly did you show everyone it's just trolling and expected them to "get it"?

Let me quote your friend Brasas: there is no way this type of posting is liberal play.

I can see a liberal making an obvious exasperated joke "Yes I'm Hitler" which no one in their right mind would believe (just like I didn't think anyone in their right mind would believe me and not see it for the irritated post that it was). Your posts are quoted verbatim above. How is it a non-serious trolling joke in any way?

But I'm trying to get into a liberal's mind in your place who'd post just the way you did. "I'm liberal, I don't know who the other liberals are. How can I ensure our team wins? I know! I'll ask a senseless questions and then drag it a bit for the lulz. It will create confusion and possibly unnecessary conflicts. That will sure help my team win!"

Bull.

I think this is your final straw. Your biggest slip. Not the original statement to Brasas, but you calling it "trolling" now. At this moment I wouldn't trust you further than I could throw you.

avatar
Lifthrasil: ...
@Lift, pinging you, since this is the person you consider trustworthy to be next president.
And the fact that Brasas clings to my (what everyone got to be a non-serious irritated post) but just ignored greek's with "I didn't get what you were saying lol" should tell you volumes.
I am here to have fun, too, I would have kept it a secret until the end and then reveal it but Lift just had to ask about it. Now, excuse me, I have to prepare the guillotine, it has a long trip from A-Z.
avatar
greeklover: I am here to have fun, too.
Yet you took the game seriously enough to read strategy guides...
The liberal play to choose a chancellor for Lift is to roll a d8. The d8 has a 50%-50% chance to pick a liberal, and if you think I am a fascist, the odds are even better. If the d8 picks dedo, dedo will be replaced by brasas who is a "strictly better" choice as I have analyzed before. Why a roll of the dice? Because liberals can afford it, fascists can't. Who likes this idea?

Just one question: having been blacklisted from chancellorship, and maybe from presidency too, do you see this as the only way you might still win this game?

If we are going to try someone as chancellor this round, we should do it at random, that reduces the chance of fascists convincing us to try a fascist. You don't like my idea?
