Hi - This service is very new to me so apologies if this is something really easy, but I don't know how to save a game. I am enjoying the old classics and had spent hours working through Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, only to get shot by a Nazi. I did not know you could die in this game.

Has it automatically saved somehow? And if so, how do I carry on from the saved position so I don't have to start over.

Thanks

Jason :)

Hit F5 and select "Load" in the ScummVM menu and see if any auto-saves are there.

Cheers for that, if you have nothing constructive to add then pipe down.
Each game has its own savesystem, it has nothing to do with GOG or Galaxy (though in this case where to find the load/save functions has to do with the emulator ScummVM that the game runs on). Unfortunately, I don't think that a game as old as Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis would make autosaves; in those days most games expected you to save manually, so there's a good chance your whole progress is lost. :/

But who knows, and you should be able to call the ScummVM menu at least, in order to check. I just installed the game and tried pressing F5 and it worked for me. Can you give us more info about your situation? Are you playing on Windows? With or without the Galaxy client? On a desktop PC or laptop? (On my laptop I have to press an extra function key Fn before I press any of the F-keys, because they are also used for laptop specific functions at the same time, like turning the volume up and down.)

You're a star = Thank you so much - I have pressed FN and F5 together and that brought up the save menu. I have lost my previous progress. but at least I know now how to save it... Thank you again :) Much appreciated
I just checked and the copy of ScummVM packaged with Fate of Atlantis is configured to auto save every 5 minutes by default. If it's not set in your install, you can change it by pulling up the F5 menu, return to launcher, options, misc and change the auto save setting.

Interesting! I didn't know ScummVM offers this option.

It's one of the reasons why I use one single "central" ScummVM install and add all games to it. If you set it as Serren explained (Misc tab) you can have autosaving in all games every 5, 10, 15 or 30 mins (see attached screenshot).

I have, just not in the mood. More importantly it's all findable/learnable like in 5 mins. There's no magic "service" it's not rocket science reading a few paragraphs say from scummvms docs. You just whine. If all the whiners on todays internets piped down the universe would be a much better place.

Lovely, now jog on then - If you're 'not in the mood' why bothering answering with your pointless comments -

One thing to remember - many games have different ways to save, and only more modern games have autosave (there are some exceptions - such as the ScummVM autosave options). I'd advise always checking how to save when you start playing - and usually refer to the manual as well.

pds41: many games have different ways to save
SHOCK HORROR
As far as I know, in ScummVM if you press Ctrl + F5 while the game is running, it will bring up the basic game menu every time regardless of the game engine (Sierra AGI, Sierra SCI, Lucasarts, AGS, etc.).
