Just noticed this was a thing, epic exclusive for now. Thought, that sounds great, maybe they will do 2 as well and release here after the exclusivity. Then saw the price, £35! Maybe for all four games plus dlc remastered and soundtracks then it would be worth half that. Ridiculous money grab.
Digital Foundry did some talking and comparing:

Just have to wait out whether it gets released here or not. I don't see why it wouldn't unless the studio behind the remaster hates the extra potential revenue.

Yes, sorry, got bored of that video real quick. To sum it up, sr3 on console was crap, the remaster makes it much better. Pc, done some upgrades to graphics engine, which quite frankly doesn’t improve it. I mean the old more game looking graphics worked well for the type of game, doesn’t need to be more realistic.
So no new content, nothing new, just tax the graphics whore console users. I think I can safely pass.
Anyone who didn't buy the original version and is interested in doing so, you now have one year deadline before it is removed.

Good point. Well worth getting, maybe at the summer sale if you don’t own the whole series.

Which raises a good point, why did they not use the resource wasted on this, to port the first x currently not available on anything but xbox360 - to pc, or fixing sr2? I mean sr3 has more or less been sorted now with mods. I guess it’s all aimed at the console market.

I'm not sure if it is ever a good point to question a company's decision, might be as well as that new junior manager that's been given some freedom to see what happens...

That always reminds me of that one training course where one day you were expected to chose someone from your department and write a valid testimony about why they should leave to hear the next day that the next step is to actually fire that person .... scary people I swear!

They're fixing Saints Row 2 though.

Maybe they thought there was a higher demand for Saints Row 3 on PS4/Xbox One than Saints Row 1 on PC/PS4/Xbox One. After all, it was one of the best-sellers (if not the best-seller) of the series.

As for the second one, they announced they would release a patch half-a-year ago, but so far no exact date has been announced:

I choose to believe (wrongly, of course, but I can dream) that they're not remastering SR1 because the next game will be a hybrid remake/reboot, in which the events of SR1 get crashed by time-travelling SR4-era Saints. So you get a full remake of SR1's story missions, but Playa talks and there's an extra plot thread in which you try to retrieve experimental Ultor tech that will allow you to prevent Zinyak's invasion.

Hopefully that should prevent any shenanigans where they strip music from the game in player libraries once the rights to that music expires.

You don't need to apologize to me, I'm not in the video and I had no hand in producing it so whether you were bored by it or not doesn't impact me. Just figured it was worth putting something out there for people curious about it and I'd already linked a side by side comparison (without anyone commentating over it) in the thread in the series' subforum.

Cool, yes I think I did see that from before but forgot about it.
If anyone's wondering if the game will be given for free, once the exclusivity period ends, for everyone that owns the original version I have bad news:

I don't get this remaster trend for perfectly functioning, fine games. Nor the people playing full price for a graphical upgrade. SR3 works and looks great as it is.

Exactly, but there is lots of money to be made in this, and requires very little effort. Beamdog were a pioneer in this field.
