Nobody's forcing you to buy anything...

PaterAlf: It's very simple, if you don't like the Pinatas, just don't buy any.
It's not like GOG is forcing you do to so.
exactly

rtcvb32: Could be worse... We could be stuck on an insomnia sale with 3,000 copies of Jack Keane 2 that MUST be sold before the next game opens up as an option...
Jack is love, Jack is life. You're just jealous. ;-P

Jokes aside, I was fortunate enough with that, as JK2 was up during my night-time, so I got a decent amount of sleep without missing anything. :-)

Wasn't it up for like three weeks?

real.geizterfahr: Easy: I'm not into PWYW bundles at all. I don't even have accounts on any of these sites O.O
A-ha, that would explain why you don't know what the real value of games is! ;-)

It was winter, I was hibernating.

jonjonz: Sad to see GOG stoop to the cheesy gambling practice of selling mystery packs which contain supposedly random items that have a small chance of any of them being of any value equal to or above the selling price.

I thought GOG was based on giving gamers value, not the hyped up excitement and/or desperation of gambling.
Sad to see yet another internet brat whining and complaining about something they don't have to partake in. Not to mention the blatant mis-information with regards to "small chance of any of them being of any value equal to or above the selling price." This is easily one of the most unproductive and useless threads I've come across in a while.

Like others say, gambling is something you choose to do. If you do not like it, just do not take part. Buy from the normal sale.
I took a gamble and got sweet jack. So it happens, but I knew the risk was there and decided that a single run would be my limit. Now like a good gambler I know my limit and have to walk away.
I feel sorry for myself that I did not get either of the two games I am missing. But that is it, _I_ feel sorry for _myself_, not blaming anyone else, especially GOG, nor asking for others to pick me up.
Own choice = own responsibility.

And if you don't want to gamble, there is still the normal sale, where you can buy indie games with discounts between 30% - 80%.
Actually, Judas is standing right here and forcing me to click on the damn pinatas. I've amassed all the games three times over. He says if I don't click, johny. will never fix the chat. *sobs*

As someone else mentioned on another thread, would you consider buying a pack of baseball cards or Magic cards, "gambling"?

Hmmm... good question. True gambling you lose money and get nothing out of it. But baseball cards, magic cards, and pinatas you get random results, but it's still something tangible. And with GoG's games, you area always getting it with a decent discount.
I love gambling, there should be more gambling. I demand more risk and reward!

I hate Gambling but this not gambling as you get something in return which is a discounted indie game for you to try. even if you have it then you have an extra copy which you can gift it or trade it so it win win situation.

Well, you always getting a game if you buy the pinata, not like a real gamble where you can get nothing. And some of "mystery game" are really good value too, like Shadow Warrior (2013). I think it's a way for GOG to selling some of their game in a deep discount that they normally cannot do in normal sale (and to trick you to buy something you don't really want and increasing your backlog ;P). If you wondering what's inside the pinata, you can get a hint of what it is from Indie Piñata tracking thread (thanks blotunga :D). Or you can avoid the Pinata, and just buy game from the normal sale. Nobody force you to buy that rainbow horses...

The trickiest thing for me is that I own a lot of these games from sources outside GOG... I bought two pinatas regardless. Got one game that I already had on Steam (Spelunky), and another that I owned most of but not all of already (Blackwell Bundle). Not terrible, and I'd pay $3 for a DRM-free added copy of Spelunky any day of the week, so I can't complain too much.

I too bought 2 of the pinatas. Also getting Spelunky. The other is Grimrock 1. Not a bad deal for 3$ each.
