So I'm sad and surprised to see that it's been pulled so quickly. Also a little weirded out. Was it pushback from investors? A credible threat of DDOS or some other form of cyberwarfare? Like, dang, they knew what they were getting into. A flip-flop that fast is seriously weird.

Sadly this kind of reasoning actually has some merit. There are so many people who are upset about GOG's stance on selling this game, yet they think nothing of buying their slave made goods from China. Why is GOG expected to make some kind of political statement regarding this game when the general public has been supporting slave labour in China for decades. It makes zero sense.

It's called appeasement, first Hong Kong then Taiwan then the chairman puts Wagner on his playlist and gets the sudden urge to invade Poland.

The odd thing is, GOG already decided to make that statement independently. They had to know the CCP is ready to revoke business licenses and such.

I haven't seen anybody calling for GOG to do so (although I am very curious as to how many votes Devotion got on the community wishlist before all this. My guess is not a lot, compared to other games.).

Same as Blizzard, GOG is just a business. Let's enjoy the DRM-free until it lasts, and that's it. I've had bigger disappointments this year.
I wonder if this could be fixed removing the Xi Jinping reference, if it hasn't been attempted first, or the people complaining about the game being released would still be mad about it.
And how has GOG reached this point? If they didn't expect reactions they haven't done their homework.

The CCP is China, for all intents and purposes. They're in control and the people are either brainwashed or browbeat into submission. That's just a fact.
