Finally able to claim it (It's the Premium Edition) also comes with a coupon for the sale they are having right now.

I couldn't verify it due to the Epic Client still failing but Galaxy saw the game when I synced it to my Epic account.

tomimt: It has been confirmed that they are going GTA away free

fronzelneekburm: WTF, I love Epic now!

I also heard rumors that Witcher 3 will be among their future freebies and I SO hope this to be true! The butthurt meltdown on this forum will be GLORIOUS!
Witcher 3 is already available to purchase there, so probably won't be the next free game.
As was to be expected, the butthurt kvetching on the Steam forums is absolutely glorious!

Wish Gog would do the same ,offer us awesome games for free no need for weekly but maybe montly.

If you think that is glorious, it may be time to go out and get a life.

I haven't been able to log on yet. But I have managed to get error codes in multiple languages, which has been great fun. A bit of patience is always good.

wolfsite: It will probably still have the Rockstar Launcher for the online component.
avatar
MysterD: Yes, probably...and unfortunately.
I hope it doesn't have Securom also on it, just for the SP campaign's sake.
I just installed it, and yes unfortunately it does still require the rockstar launcher, and a social club account to even load the game. Interestingly the rockstar launcher installer claims it requires the steam api, wonder if that's true still or just a splash screen they didn't bother to update from the steam release. Anyway it's free, but it's safe to say it's not drm-free.

All I can get is english "403 forbidden".

I'm not even sure it would be my cup of tea, more like 80% confident it isn't. But for free, it can't hurt to try and maybe get a surprise. As long as they can deal with this DoS in six days.

Maybe they should get in touch with Tencent and convince them of the benefits of DRM-free gaming. ;)

It's just brand loyalty. Pure, dumb brand loyalty. Steam has had a market monopoly for a decade now and Epic is the first real threat to their hegemony. Rather than embrace some healthy competition, they go #fullstockholmsyndrome, since they got all their games on Steam and therefore any threat to Steam is teh bad. Really pathetic.
I really enjoyed some of the earlier entries in the series, but I don't think even this is enough to prompt me to open yet another account. ;)

Certain RPGs maybe....

Yep , while Steam is heavily drm-ed. Some features are good thou , family share, mod database.

I think Witcher 3 won't be free on epic thou.

Now maybe they will get round to sorting out the Epic launcher so it at least has better basic features.

ASHLIIN: What? Denuvo? Most games dont have that.
But the ones that have it are just the best!! Not nearly as good as those sweet old starforced games though...
