That is not the way it goes with me. I didn't play e.g. San Andreas until a few years ago, I liked it, and I was always interested in playing it, _at some point_.

The "problem" is the wealth of options. I can't play all my thousands of games in the backlog at the same time, so I have to prioritize. It affects also that I prefer playing many series of games in order, ie. I wanted to play GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas before playing IV, and at some point V (I have briefly tried GTA 1 and 2 too but quite soon decided I'll skip them; mainly due to the overhead view which makes it hard to see what is ahead of you while driving, and the maze-like towns).

It was the same with the Elder Scrolls games, I started with Arena (finished it), proceeded to Daggerfall (decided to skip the rest of it) etc... just because I didn't jump right ahead to Skyrim, doesn't mean I am not interested in the game. Or the Deus Ex series: last year I finished the original Deus Ex (modded) and Deus Ex: IW (modded), and now feel I am ready to proceed to Deus Ex: HR.

Naturally you might have a different definition of being interested into a game, like that if you don't buy and play a game within the first few weeks or months of its release, then you were never interested in the game. I have a different definition.

Single-player games that I am playing at the moment:

Delta Force:
- liking it, and looking forward to playing the sequels.

Heroes of Might & Magic 1
- still undecided what to think about it, I've yet to fully grasp how I am supposed to play it.

Homeworld 1 Remastered
- I finished the classic Homeworld last year, liked it for the most part, and now playing the remastered version; later proceeding to the sequels (classic & remastered)

EDIT: From your earlier messages I recall you might be concentrating to much fewer genres than me, which might partly explain the difference. Mainly I am not keen on playing at this point e.g. point&click adventures (boring), grand scale 4x4 strategy games (they often go way over my head) and sports games (boring). But almost anything else goes.

An example of a famous game that I can also admit I am not really interested in playing is Minecraft. I am not looking forward to playing it, so I will not claim I am interested in it.

EDIT2: And I forgot the most obvious one why I am postponing the playing of many new-ish games: I don't necessarily have powerful enough PC yet to play them properly. So I buy and archive the games till I have one. I am currently thinking of buying some gaming laptop with hopefully some 8-core Radeon CPU and NVidia RTX 2060 GPU, hopefully costing no more than 1300€. Waiting until I find good enough deal, but not in a hurry as I have so much to play anyway even on my current PCs.

I think my current two laptops are powerful enough for playing GTA IV, but not GTA V. So even if I redeem it, I wouldn't start playing it right now even if I had finished GTA IV already.
