Top Gear can just move to another TV Channel [ITV / CH4 / CH5)

[edit] IF the BBC own the rights to the show, then the presenters can start their own show on another TV chan, maybe called 'Up Yours BBC'

wpegg: Sorry guys, but Clarkson assaulted someone. To the point the guy was admitted to A&E. There cannot be any choice here for the BBC. It amazes me that he was not summarily dismissed now that we know what happened.

I mean - it's reported (not verified) that he was attacking that guy for 30 seconds! That's a hell of a long time to be hitting someone.
Yeah but he hadn't had any hot food in hours so his blows would've been weak from the hunger.

Seriously though, it seems like an appropriate consequence for Clarkson who admits he was on his final warning. I suppose the three musketeers could simply jump channels and start a new show, but every car company would be put on the spot as to whether to participate or not.

Still, one million signatures. Woah. You couldn’t collect a million signatures to end world hunger!
I believe James May and Richard Hammond have both said that they will not continue without Jeremy Clarkson, so if the BBC intend to keep running Top Gear, and their statement suggests they do, then they will be looking for an entirely new lineup.
Apparently the trio will stick together though, so at least they remain together.

Sorry to hear that many of you support BBC's decision. They're grown men, they should solve the problem like men do.

I'm also surprised that the producer isn't sacked as well. I mean he neglected his duties (organizing a meal), so he pissed of the presenter which resulted in cancelling the best motor show in the history. And he still works as a producer?

BBC is being run by hypocrites.

Unfortunately I think the BBC wont go with him.
I think he would be a good fit. He likes cars, is funny and has a wider interest of the world then just the local pub, like James May does too.

I personally feel that the BBC will be following the calls and produce a Top Gear with an all female cast. I have seen several calls for it over the whole spectrum of the news in the last week or so.
I do wonder, if - IF - they choose that direction if it would really work (I wonder about the future of Doctor Who as a woman too). Or would the audience follow Clarkson to Sky?
Wait, there was a Top Gear game after Top Gear 3000?

Are you actually fucking serious? Neglecting to get Jeremy Clarkson a hot meal means he should be allowed to be subjected to a viscious beating!

You've clearly never been victim of an assault. My anger almost made me write some very horrible words. I will just say that I am disgusted by your remarks.

This is the last I will say on this matter - He assaulted someone in his workplace, that is unforgivable and must see him sacked.
It seems inevitable that the BBC will try and keep Top Gear alive somehow - if nothing else they've got a lot of foreign Top Gears to think about. So they'll definitely get in some new people and probably a new format.

And probably fuck it up.

What will be more interesting is seeing where Clarkson and co go now and how in tack their format will remain in their new home.

On another note, the license fee really should be scrapped after this. That was one of the few remaining decent things the BBC did.

Just saw an interview with May, he wouldn't commit to much, but he did say that , they weren't there at the start of the show and the three of them together were an important collaboration to the shows success, But its possible the show can continue without them, but also hinting that maybe it wont continue with the three of them. If that makes any sense at all :)

Strijkbout: It's sad but to be honest Clarkson owed it to himself as success got to him and the last few years he could only be funny at the cost of others which apparently is called political incorrect these days, 15 years ago it would have been just plain rude and that's not even touching all the racism he's been doing.
Bullshit. Spoken like someone who has terrible terrible memory it seems because making digs at other famous people was a very very common thing back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Watch Red Dwarf, for example, or Married with Children - it was even worse in talk shows like Tonight Show. It's only in recent years that people like you have been against this approach and while that's an entirely different debate, claiming that it wasn't that bad 15 years ago is just living under a rock.

And onto the topic: people should read more. Clarkson has mainly gotten in the news because the media are left-wing idiots who just dislike Clarkson and have been looking for every little thing to slam him on. 90% of the times he got in the news, it was completely over the top like the joke about truck drivers and killing hookers. And that's coming from someone, who like James May, thinks he's a big knob. I just think there should be room for knobs like him to exist. If all we get is dull and tedious SWJs on TV, it might as well just die.

You have no idea what the circumstances were. Maybe he deserved it. Some people deserve a beating some of the time.
