ElPrimordial: He achieved immortality with a speech that will be remembered as long as humanity last...
fronzelneekburm: A speech that he himself ad libbed. I'll say it again, without Rutger Hauer, Blade Runner would merely be an okay-ish attempt at interbreeding sci-fi and neo noir with some really impressive production design. It was Rutger Hauer who gave this movie a heart and soul, which made it become the classic it is today.
Such a great actor, so many great movies! It's a shame he never got around to making another movie with Verhoeven (Turks Fruit is great, BTW! Everyone should see it!). I'll miss him.
Indeed he did it! And as you wrote it, he raised up the whole movie to a new level with his amazing performance and unforgettable speech.
And, of course, Vangelis music.
