mcphail: The Pale Moon team are beyond contempt, imho.

Because they enforced their trademark? How dare they try to protect their brand? What monsters, telling people who are altering their product in a way that violates a clearly stated license that they have to adhere to that license to carry the product name…

Yes. They were transparently clear. I'll give them that.

If that is how they choose to do business, I'll stay away from their product.

I don't understand. You don't want to use their product because they protect their brand and in order to keep confusion out of the air, they told the person in violation of their mark to change the parts of the fork that put it in violation, or remove the branding.

And that turns you off of using their product? It doesn't affect me one way or the other. 1st, I don't use BSD. Second, They were merely enforcing their rightful trademark. I've never understood why that offends people, both with larger companies and with small companies... people seem to be offended by the idea of rights holders enforcing their marks. Could you explain it to me?

Maybe I don't understand because I've had to enforce my own mark. Or maybe it's because I've had people do it to me, and I understood their point of view... I don't know.

People like to be offended by anything nowadays, so you can take that as an answer.

The only issue with the team in the link you gave is the tone of the first post (starting the message with "you will remove", where a "please remove" would have been better). But in my book that doesn't put them at "beyond contempt". Or even at "contempt". Or even anywhere close to "contempt". I'd say it puts them around "impolite" at best.

BStone: I need FireFox for the add-blockers and other plugins.

CraigGen_1970: Chrome does this much better, especially on Youtube ads. Just install ublock origin, and ublock AdblockPlus. Then download a bunch of selected filters. Never see a ad on Youtube, or anywhere, to be honest.

Does Waterfox or Pale Moon, contain telemetry ?
This was one of my reasons for moving to Chrome, Mozilla seemed so brazen about Telemetry " It's there to give you a better experience", Yeah right. Of course it is.
so you moved from mozilla to google because of privacy-related concerns?

I was quite amazed by that too ;-)

Anyway, tested Palemoon a while ago and never really got warm with it, running a FF Quantum for a few websites, a portable Chrome for YouTube, with the previously mentioned uBlock Origin in both browsers. Additionally I use Waterfox for almost everything else, works fine for me with classic NoScript, uBlock, HTTPS Everywhere and as well my beloved TabMixPlus and other "old" addons. I really hated Quantum at the beginning, and ended up sticking with Waterfox, think there is a Basilik browser or something like that as well. Also forking from the classic FF, iirc.

Alternatively, if you use Google, or any other search engine, you can find the long time support version of FF, 52.x which supports all addons too. Going to Chrome for privacy concerns seems pretty wierd to me, sorry.

Fairfox: o phew
The first time I saw this thread, I thought it said "RIP FAIRFOX". Then I did a double-take and read the title again and all was well. Must've happened to you, too. lol

I'd uprate this 1000 times if GOG would let me.

tinyE: Anyone have a link for Netscape? :D

Darvond: Technically, yes.
SeaMonkey? I forgot about that. Hmm, it seems to be recently updated (2018-02-15), too. Nice.

Though it describes itself as "containing an Internet browser, email & newsgroup client with an included web feed reader, HTML editor, IRC chat and web development tools". That reminds me a bit of emacs (Editing MACroS) which has eww (Emacs Web Wowser) and gnus, a calendar, IRC clients, and various text-editing modes for HTML, CSS, JS, and debugging.

I think the main difference would be that emacs provides the capability to create editing macros, t.i. macros for editing. That is done simply by pressing a key for recording keystrokes (typing, keyboard shortcuts, etc.) and then another key for playing back that sequence to have it all done again. No coding or programming necessary at all. That, and emacs tiles its windows instead of overlapping them, and they're easily resizable/arrangeable so anything/everything can be viewed and without wasting space.
At some point I might try firefox and see what my friends was talking about. I used to use Safari when it was being work on for windows but after that I moved to Chrome and been happy with it. but soon I might move again.. Maybe.
Now Mozilla assholes want to remove the ability for the user to cancel individual cookies. The fucking cookies....

EVERY... SINGLE... TIME

I read this I think Fairfox is dead. Probably from her tongue wrapping around her brain and strangling her whilst trying to figure out how to turn real thoughts into the weird My Little Pony text that comes out.
