SpooferJahk: Oh some love for RetroAhoy, that is amazing. I LOVE his stuff, mostly for the voice because it has a very legendary documentary feel to it.
Firebrand9: Totalbiscuit would have that effect. Retroahoy, ehhh.... Listening for an hour about what any watchers already knows is rhetorical. EG - Talking about the Doom sector effects on E1M3. People really need to know this is what happens? How about talking about the game's development and not splashing in the kiddie pool by stating the obvious by giving a blow-by-blow of a level's gameplay? It's like the guy has nothing more compelling to say so he states what anyone whose played the game for less than the average length of his videos already knows, minimally implicitly, and attempts to disguise it as "insight".
Even if his voice is overlooked, the lack of depth present in his videos make them at best a waste of time. Anything he states regarding development can be gleaned multiplied by orders of magnitude by just reading "Masters of Doom",
The Book of id,
the Game Developer articles on id Software, or
Mike Abrash's articles on Quake's development. But, I value my time and prioritize quality. As has been stated, different strokes
indeed...
I get ya on that but hey, he's there when TotalBiscuit is busy talking about current news and what not.
