So, it has been awhile and I can't remember if there was a thread for sharing videos, but I figured this channel deserves a thread, and all the attention it can get.

If you enjoy YouTube content like Lazy Game Reviews or Ross Scott's Game Dungeon, I highly recommend this guy. He has a documentary style to his video and they are very high quality. He's done many, many different series and lately he's been pumping out content.

RetroAhoy
A retrospective of classic games through the eyes of the age.

Nuclear Fruit
A five part exploration of the Cold War's effect on video games.

Iconic Arms
Legendary weapons of FPS history.

Video Game Origins
The roots of gaming elements.

A Brief History Of...
A transverse slice of gaming history: from the earliest 8-bit titles to the present day.

If you enjoy his work, seriously, spread the word. He deserves all the views he can get. Quality content for free.
Thanks . Bookmarked .
Nice finds. Thanks!
For some reason, the first word I read from your post was "transverse"... except I read it as "transvestite" and wondered in what insane way that had anything to do with gaming.

Just finished watching it.

Marvelous as always.
This guy has some of the most high quality gaming videos In youtube. He is criminaly not well know enough.
Clicked the Video Game Origins link (something I'm more interested in) and saw the video on Open World games, but I gotta say, was kinda disappointed. The premise of the 12 minute video was discovering the genesis of the Open World game, but the first mention he makes of an answer seems to be Grand Theft Auto at the 3 minute mark, and then finally giving an inconclusive answer at the 11 minute mark (after going through several genres that had open-world subgenres one by one for some reason) with "Ultima", ending with basically "but who knows?"
RetroAhoy's voice is annoying, and is overly rhetorical, which is a deal-breaker for me. There's nothing he's doing that hasn't been done better elsewhere. Case-in-point : All Your History Are Belong To Us, which covers all the id games (and a lot more), in a much more interesting fashion, with far more depth, and doesn't attempt to glamorize it through vector art.
I have never watched anything on Youtube more than 5 minutes except this dude's videos (which are mostly more than 1 hour)
