Hey guys, first off, glad to see so many new gamers are interested in playing the games that older gamers like me enjoyed back when we were young as they were (and in some cases) still are quite revolutionary. I own physical copies of most of the retro PC games that gog offers and quite a few that haven't made it into their catalog yet, and I'd like to share with everyone unboxing videos of all the games from that era and show you all the stuff they packed in, what it was like playing those games on early PCs (PC Speaker sounds/music may make your ears bleed), and what made them so unique to us at the time. Hope you guys will enjoy my videos and sub to my channel! I also be featuring videos of playthroughs of classic arcade games on my MAME cabinet and a build tutorial on my new cabinet and cosplay armors so you can make your own!

I skimmed a couple of your videos just now. Not bad. Maybe use a headset mic or such during the actual "unboxing" part for better quality? Anyway, consider yourself bookmarked. ;) I definitely enjoy these kind of things more than regular LPs, which in truth tend to be horribly boring to watch. Your introduction video has me shaking that cane though because: "Games your grandparents played." I'm not that old, thank you very much! =P

My gold standard for retro game reviews is still Lazy Game Reviews, mainly because he makes his video informative as well as entertaining. Plus, I really like listening to Clint's voice. There's just something soothing about it. His thrift series of videos is also more entertaining than it probably should be, especially due to his weird obsession with faux woodgrain.

Now that we're on the subject, can anyone recommend any other (not necessarily retro) PC gaming channels out there?

I don't think they'll be much interesting for a lot of folks in here, but i enjoy watching Krause's Falcon BMS videos (also has some more stuff but i don't pay any attention to them -- i go there only for BMS) as well as AviationPro's channel for civilian aviation videos.

Thanks for the tip! I do need to find a better mic that's compatible with my dslr.... And I did qualify the grandparent remark as I'm quite old myself and some of the games I got from my dad, he got from his dad :) Now get off my lawn :)
I just have to say that collection though. (I didn't watch any videos) but that collection amazing! Been getting back into collecting Big Boxed PC games myself (after being made to get rid of the boxes growing up.) Whilst I still have the cds for those games, i've been re-buying them slowly.

My granddad got married just before the Battle of El Alamein, so their games won't work on computers :P and my dad's pc that he used didn't have games, and if it did they won't work on today's pcs and I don't have a IBM System 360 laying around :P

I think I've got an ENIAC in the backyard that I could fire up a number guessing game on, just lemme find a power plug and alert the utility company...
Just posted a new unboxing and review for a series of games I hope GOG will add to their library soon as the franchise is making a comeback with Mechwarrior Online, Mechwarrior 5 and HBS' Battletech... The first 3 Battletech games for PC:

Hey I'll check it out! Not that much of an unboxing guy but with these older games it's actually a lot more interesting since they put the weirdest things in there back then. Also the manuals could be amazing back then.

Sinse people asked for recommendations: I myself have started a channel a bit more then two weeks ago. I like your idea of talking about how the game felt special to you back in the day since that is also part of what I try to talk about during my let's plays. Also I try to give some more insights in how the game was made (If i can find it). I am still a big amateur at it but i like to think i improve every day.

I won't post a link here since that is a bit bad form and I should make my own topic to try to give my channel some more attention. If however you are interested I will post it here.

Well I wouldn't say weird in most cases, more unique and added to immersion but yes, lots of thick manuals with gorgeous handdrawn art, but if we're talking about weird... then I guess I'd have to say the Free Underwear offer in the original Aliens vs Predator in 1999 tops my list that I can think of... and also this from First Expedition: http://imgur.com/BToAlTx

The sniff card was pretty weird too in Larry 7 (or did I imagine that?)

I watched your latest one, and one thing I must say is that the short looping music was quite irritating after a while. You might think about reducing its volume and/or having it fade out completely shortly after the beginning. It's really distracting from the actual video content.
