JudasIscariot: Still in Hinted Release Country :P
OK then. Final derail question; where's the weekly staff pick?
avatar
Grargar: You there, where's the hinted release? It's been a month since you dropped the hint!

Too bad, it seems that German customers are region-blocked from accessing it then. ;)

No, everyone is blocked from accessing it due to the Hint not being solved :P

Actually, we just need to get majority shares of Warner and then pull the strings. ;P

tomimt: I think this saga will give some new perspective for those people complaining about the speed which GOG releases older games. After years of mergers and whatnot the right holders can be difficult to find. And even if you have an inkling WHO it might be, getting them to actually play ball can be difficult as well.
I wish that would be true, but I'm not holding my breath. Even after popular titles like Fallout and XIII got dropped due to rights issues, you'd think people would have finally understand how long, drawn out, and byzantine this can be.

You'll still get people who'll say, "GOG should just release the game anyway and get sued LOL", as if that could ever be a reasonable business strategy for a company trying to maintain and boost its credibility in the eyes of rights holders.

DrakeFox: But just as Project Snowblind for Deus Ex, I don't remember JACK being that bad. Snowblind was a more interesting game sure...I'll shut up now and decide if I want to pick up Jack again. Just reinstalled Mass Effect 1 determined to actually go through it, getting fed up of the horrible game design decisions in that so maybe I'll ditch it for Jack.
Looks like GOG ate my post.

Interesting! This is the first I've heard about Project Snowblind! Is it digitally available anywhere?

It's on GamersGate but it doesn't say what DRM it uses:

Ah, good to know. I know Square-Enix has a bunch of their older stuff that aren't on GOG there but some of them have DRM.

Thanks, that is interesting information!

As an aside, and a friendly plug, IsThereAnyDeal.com just added the feature I suggested to only warn you when DRM-free games go on sale!

If you have a steam account lying around, you can use that to login there. That's what I do.

I thought of doing one for GamersGate, but they have WAY too many games.

dferstat: Don't be silly. There's nothing a lawyer wouldn't dare. :)
Of course I was joking but it's hard not to get that thought after reading the whole story.

i was thinking more about only first person shooters cause they are a genre very much punished by drm

just came accross this from another thread... a store called games rocket that sells drm-free
including a fps you might recall, boiling point
http://www.gamesrocket.com/download/Boiling-Point.html
is this really drm-free?
