Goodbyes are not forever (and war never changes).

It's not the first time we give this advice, but remember to take your Rad-X pills, try not to mistake a G.E.C.K for a gecko (not even remotely the same thing!), and take good care of yourself out there in the wasteland: Fallout, the premiere post nuclear role playing game franchise, is back.
The Fallout games have been with us on day one, and they played an inseparable part in defining the early GOG.com catalog. When they got swept away by radioactive winds, a gaping hole the size of California was left behind that we haven't quite been able to fill... until now!

Once again, you can pick up all three RPG classics at 66% off in a single post-apo bundle that includes:
--Fallout
--Fallout 2
--Fallout Tactics

We're welcoming Bethesda Softworks to GOG.com with more bundles, and tons of new classic releases - all DRM-free of course - and don't forget that two The Elder Scrolls classics (The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall) will drop like a bomb straight into your library, completely FREE with any Bethesda purchase. The bundle promos end on Wednesday, September 2, 12:59 PM GMT.

petchema: Arena and Daggerfall have been basically free since their 15th anniversary, in 2009:
They are such a pain to play, it's not really a surprise...

MIK0: GOG customers are second class citizen, they remind it on every news or change on the site.
Yeah, they whine about everything

viperfdl: Are they also the uncut American versions or still the cut European version (no children)?
After reading the details regarding the Steam release, I think it's the European version - you need to patch it to remove censorship.
Welcome back!! ♥
That's strange. My collection was updated to the classic version. I still have all of my old extras too. Maybe it just takes time for everyone's account to update? No daggerfall or arena though...

EDIT - I was wrong. I have the "classic" version. This is somewhat confusing.

SirPrimalform: Why do I no longer own the Fallout games according to the store? ._.
Apparently there's two versions. The ones we had, which are now dubbed "Classic" and these "new" ones, without the Classic prefix.

Oh nevermind - the ones I have are the "classic" version. Seems the new ones are inferior to the old version - not having a lot of extras. I'll pass.

ShadowOwl: Very glad to see the return of the classic Fallout games but...

Why do we have to buy the Fallout games again while Steam customers who owned the old Fallout versions got the Bethesda "upgrades" for free?
That's true. I didn't had to rebuy the games on Steam either. What gives? :(

viperfdl: Strange. The same goes for me although the games are still in my library.
I had to double check myself as well. Luckily my memory is good enough to know that I bought them here.

Ok so reading through the comments I see we have different versions, nothing confusing about that.

GOG you really do need to pre-empt this stuff a little and clarify in the posting for all those previous owners.

I would highly recommend that gog would add some more informations about the differences between Bethesdas re-releases and Interplay classic releases. So far I know the re-release has some mods added, like the Baldur's Gate remakes. Multilingual isn't also new, as the Interplay releases on Dotemu wee also multilingual. That's not a Bethesda excluse, only gogs late move to multilingual support. Also multiplatform support seems to be gone, but that's also no surprise, as GOG did back them for Interplay (first dosbox, later wine versions).

So yeah, some officieal explanations what's new would be very nice.

Edit: Another thing, thread title is talking about Fallout classics while the versions are not the new labelled classics from Interplay. So yeah, kind of confusing. So, are these versions the Bethesdas updated and modded versions like on steam, or are these just the old Interplay versions just new branded?

Probably because GoG gave the freakin' things away free. Do you think GoG would risk negotiations (and have this day never happen?) over a free upgrade to a free series of games? Could you imagine the look on the Beth lawyers' faces when GoG reps are pounding on the table demanding that?
I don't understand the complaints, I really don't. I would've been more upset if the people who bought it from Interplay lost all the free goodies that new purchasers don't get in the new Bethesda version. All you "lose" are the free patches that are readily available.
