Has anyone got advise on how to reach the team at GOG? I bought software last night and it wont run. GOG support advises to install 3rd party software to allow it to run, I'm not overly keen, therefore I wanted to request a refund. I am unable to contact the staff using the outlined methods in the support section and keep being lead back to the start of the process. I have been using GOG for over seven years and this is the first problem I have encountered, would be nice to resolve as soon as possible. Thanks for any help

I only had to do a refund twice and this is how I always did it and it always worked. Without any third party software [*].
On the top of the Website is a dropdown called SUPPORT. From there, select 'Orders & Payments'. This opens a new page. On that page, scroll down and click the 'CONTACT US' button. Fill out that form. GOG usually replies within 1-2 business days.

[*] Except an operating system for my computer and web browser to display the GOG website.

Are you having trouble finding where to put in a support request?

You should open a ticket. If you already have, sort it out with them politely, I'm sure they will accomodate. Keep in mind that it's weekend.

It’s under support button on the website. Do be aware it’s weekend so you may not hear back till next week. Support are normally pretty good.
What game are you talking about but the way, and what is the 3rd party software?

It's actually pretty common for a game to need extra software, especially libraries, fonts and drivers. GOG can't bundle up these with the game as that would create licensing issues.

I'd like to see a single bundle with all commonly used libraries, redistribution, drivers, etc. Then you only download it once.

It would also shrink some games down considerably. I remember a 120Mb game where 100Mb was the DirectX files...

I believe someone made an unofficial installer for all most commonly needed dependencies....I forget the name, though.

What I cannot fathom is how the OP has been here seven years and never once used the support system or looked up where it was just in case....mind boggling, it is.

I always find this very funny to point out it is weekend. Tell me, does GOG slow down or stop selling games on weekends? Or is it just the support part that slows down or stops on weekends?
If they are making money with „full speed“, they should also have enough support people around on weekends. Otherwise this is a very cheap excuse.

In the civilized world we don't usually work on Saturdays and Sundays, unless there's need for some manual labour on critical things, like servers, fires, medical, police, general security...

I myself have worked during the weekends (both on-site and from home) but that's because other companies paid for the extra critical support. Normal costumers don't get help in the weekends, or at the very least not in the same capacity as in the rest of the week.

But I think you knew all this, didn't you? If not, stop believing in fairytales :P

People usually don't work on weekends due to companies allowing people to take their day of worship off(and other reasons)...in today's world it's not needed as much, and also i'd like to still be able to buy a hamburger or shop on the weekends. ;)

That's the biggest difference between USA and EU. In EU we have serious laws against employee abuse, religion or not. No one can force you to work Saturdays and Sundays including weekdays, unless there's that kind of work which might require it.

Luckily companies aren't the (main) ruling body in EU... not yet at least.

We do too, to some extent.....but some businesses/bosses will find other reasons to fire you which aren't against the rules/law if they want to do so....one such excuse is that an employee "didn't live up to expectations" or "wasn't working out". :\

(Many jobs sadly sort of expect some people to work whenever needed, including weekends and some holidays, in some businesses here)

Good to hear.....i'd talk more on this, btw, but it is starting to get "political"(and we all know how gog feels about that). My offtopic on quicktopics and my PM box are always open, though. ;)

GOG support will work office hours. The weekend is not office hours.

Why would you expect support for a game store to be 24/7? I wouldn't expect any customer service departments to run at the weekend other than for major things like heating.
