I know we are all fans of GOG,

but can we please stop attacking people for posting threads like this and just offer useful advice, he didnt attack GOG, he just got tired of the "LOL U R STUPED" posts, want to know a gog attack thread?

Read this ineptly written and poorly spelled turd of a thread right here.

This thread is merely "I dont know why I got different treatment can someone explain why?" thread.
Ease off, just a tad.

drunk
As was already mentioned, this basically comes down to the (grand)father having received a refund when strictly speaking he didn't have a right to one.

The son and his son being refused a refund is exactly what was supposed to happen.

While I can see that annoying the OP, once you're aware that the father was lucky to get one in the first place this shouldn't be about you still trying to get a refund 'because he got one too' in my opinion. You might not read up on games before playing them but reading up on refund policies before requesting them wouldn't do you any harm, though at least now you should be aware for future purchases.

pimpmonkey2382.313: That's if it's happened exactly as he's stated.
Indeed. There's three sides to every story. :)

GR00T: Setting aside that the info was in a review by a GOG member, I actually think this should be in the game's description. This is not a normal way to set up multiplayer in a game. It's downright weird, actually, and as such should be noted on the game page.

Just my 2 cents.
I think that is a reasonable expectation also, hopefully Judas or someone can add a:

* NOTE: The multiplayer mode of this game is an extension of the single-player mode rather than being standalone multiplayer.

reworded to be clear+terse+unambiguous.

Fairfox: It doesn't matter if you played for three secs, three mins, three hours, three days, three weeks, three months, three years or three decades; you downloadededed teh gaemz and as such could easily back it up and pretend to delete/not back up, to get a free gaem. Peeps are not honest on-le-line (or in general!) and I don't know why you want a business to be extra-wextra trustingz.

It seeeeems moar like... 'Request for refund granted even though others were denied' is act. teh correct way around. Rather than lament your denial, be happy 'n' surprised your father was granted his moolah back, as he wasn't meant to.

Still! Mebbe you'll get a 'one-time' store credit thingy for being persistent. S'long as it's one-time and you, likeee, act. research next tiemz?
That's all true of course, but GOG does issue refunds to people if they can not get the game to work and support can't get it to work either. If someone wanted to lie and cheat to get free games this way, they could just say "doesn't work" and the back and forth with support could be a complex mess of no-way-to-fix-it lies and nonsense "uh, the game crashes every time... what does General Protection mean? There are a bunch of numbers and letters on the screen, want me to read you all of these random numbers for 5 minutes so you can fix it?"

GOG response <we're issuing a refund for you, sorry you had trouble with the game>

So I don't think that argument really means much since people can still lie about things and rip them off. They're more or less trusting the customer because there are other easier ways for people to rip off GOG games than going through all the nonsense to purchase it and return it and pretend it didn't work or other shenanigans.

Grargar: Did you trademark this for a game you are developing?
No... but shit... that's a good idea!

Guns and Anger(TM) -- coming summer 2018
Guns and Anger II: This Time It's Personal (Fall 2019)
Guns and Anger III: Only My Gun Truly Understands Me (April 2020)
Guns and Anger GOTY Enhanced Gold Redux Extreme Super Food Trough Edition (Winter 2024)

Then there will be a "Complete" edition which will include all of these games plus all of their DLC in late 2024 as well. Ok, not *all* of their DLC, almost all of their DLC except one or two DLC per game left out just to make people so angry they go buy a gun.

Trilarion: A game that you have to play in single player mode about 30 minutes before you can play in multi player mode... each time?

Yuck.
I dunno about yuck, but I'd consider it more of a single-player game that has an enhanced mode that allows you to interconnect your single player game with others than I'd consider it what most people consider "multi-player". I suppose the game pub decides what to call it though, but it is indeed misleading sounding.

I was able to find your dad's ticket. He did, indeed, receive a refund - we made an exception, and offered him a store credit exchange (not a cash refund), which he accepted.
We made the same offer to you two weeks ago, but as far as I can tell you never got back to us.
Please reply to our last reply to your ticket, and let us know how you would like to proceed.

Funny how all my sympathy has suddenly vanished.

How is it that in 90% of these threads this is the reply from support and the OP has invariably already been offered what they wanted before the thread was even made...

Definitely, but you would think if you were in ongoing contact with someone over something like this and suddenly they stopped replying you would check your spam emails etc..
It is possible the email never arrived, but Gog should have got some kind of failed delivery / bounce email in that case and re sent it.
