How many pages did you have to search back to in order to find this thread? I guess after a year it needed resurrecting? :P
LinustheBold: Actually, they lost me as a customer because of this. My money doesn't go to people who support and encourage public abuse of their customers and general sniping by anonymous bullies. Oh, I buy the occasional game on deep discount, but for the most part I've been gone from here for months. I don't trust GOG any more - they drove me right back to Steam, where I will stay. Company-sponsored abuse in the forums is
not how you grow a business.
Hah I was surprised to log onto this site for the first time in a month, as I rarely frequent it now but still stay in touch with some via here, to find this thread continuing!
I can understand your perspective, especially since it was the nurturing of a small and close knit community that made GOG a success in the beginning. Slowly but surely that changed as numbers increased and the direction and focus changed to try and become a bigger player in the market, rather than the niche market GOG originally held.
GOG lost my patronage over a year ago, and I'm sure my 500+ purchases over 4 years make little difference with their market expansion. I chose to stop spending here as regional pricing countered their bullshit "one world, one price" statement, and my region of the world copped it severely. When they regionally priced The Witcher 3 ridiculously, so much so that it was cheaper on Steam, I couldn't handle the hypocrisy. I find it hilariously ironic that they make use of Steam's DRM, which is completely optional, whilst positioning themselves as a leader in the DRM-free movement. One or the other, it cannot be both.
P1na: Yeah, stick it to the man! Go to steam, where ganging up, user abuse, and general forum nastiness is non existant!
Just because you disagree with someone's rationale for choosing to patronise or avoid shopping somewhere does not make it any less valid. The Steam forums are generally far more amicable than you suggest, and your snide comment is a perfect example of the clique-like bullshit that goes on these forums whenever anyone expresses a critical opinion of GOG.
