Remove that Thronebreaker banner from the front page !
I would say remove the whole front page! In it's current state it's pointless. I would like to have a list of the currently running sales, something simple like the RSS news feed. And I would like to have back the LIST of games on sale, not this mess of animated images it's now.

kalirion: People actually still go to the gog.com front page instead of just hitting the forums and leaving? Why?

HypersomniacLive: I don't, but GOG has decided that I must visit it every time I log in or out.
Why do you log in or out? Just stay logged in.
Heh, I'm not bothered by the big Thronebreaker banner. Neither by new layout at all.
Since GoG hides news section somewhere at the bottom, it's not necessary for me to visit main page any more. Just skipping directly to general forum. Any news are in thread with blue dots :)

I go to the front page during sales to buy shit and stuff.

Anyway, I am not fully sure what exactly is now being complained about. Middle-mouse click not working, or something else? (I admit I didn't notice that because I always use the scroll-wheel to scroll the page).

The front page seems to be "work-in-progress" right now though as there is some odd empty space under the "Now on sale". Yet, for some reason that is not really irritating much at all.

Or the frontpage RSS feed.

Probably has the browser set to delete browsing history & cache on close. ;)

fronzelneekburm: They removed the "fucking" from the thread title, but that Thronebreaker banner is still there... :(
Profanity is disallowed courtesy of the new forum rules! I believe "shit" is excepted, as GOG uses the word on their Twitter feed :P

"cool shit"
I know see home page like this:

Thronewhatever at the top
other banner at the bottom

paladin181: Maybe GOG wants the old timers to go away?
Would make sense. Think about it. The old-timers probably already have bought all the old games they want and they keep giving GOG a hard time, whenever they want to release something with DRM. As soon as GOG gets rid of the oldtimers, they can finally become just another regular store with DRM and everything.

But seriously, that 'Pre-order' banner being on top of the page for weeks sends a very bad message. It tells users: "We don't have anything new, so we try to sell you a game that isn't even released yet."

The actual new releases are displaced by this pre-order banner and receive less attention. I don't think that's a smart decision.

Even though I was excited when I first saw the announcement, since I was waiting for the Thronebreaker release. But then I saw that it is just a pre-order and lost all interest. I'm not going to pre-order anything!

The term FCK should be allowed too. Gog infamously used it themselves ... So in future use FCKing instead of the full word.

Darvond: It's a promotion, it'll go away when GOG says so.
The promotion is not the problem. What is the problem is having a very shitty home page design and then further making it crap with the promotion on top of it. There were far better ways to highlight a promotion that could be better designed.

I really don't get this whole make-our-website-look-like-a-mobile-friendly-but-PC-unfriendly-webpage frenzy. Hey GOG, you know there are still people using PCs, right? If you want a mobile-friendly version of the store then do exactly that: a mobile-friendly version of it; do not force me to use my index finger on my PC monitor :)

What? Using PCs to browse a PC games store? Are you crazy? Of course we only use our phones for that.

It inspired Ink Panther's Avatar (which I then asked to copy since I strongly feel the same)

I want to apply as CEN - Chief Executive Naysayer. This is a crucial position: Every time gog would try to implement some *reeeally* fucking stupid idea that is sure to alienate a considerable part of the userbase, I'd be doing this. It's pretty obvious that they don't have someone filling this position at the moment.

So, c'mon gog, hire me! I'd even be willing to invade Poland! Uhh, I mean: move out to Warsaw!

I just looked at the opening for web designer:

GOG.com is seeking a talented and passionate person for its Design Team to help us keep the sky-high standards for design across all components of the GOG.com platform.
I just had to laugh.
